PLS MAKE A NOTE

The correct spelling of GUERRERO NEGRO is just that. It is not Guerro Negro or any other godawfulthing we see on this board.

If you don't spell it correctly, the SEARCH function becomes useless. Unless, of course, someone wants to create a NOMAD LEXICON.

That assumes that the person searching knows how to spell it. Given the percentage of correct spelling to begin with, that assumption is doubtful.:lol::lol::lol:

That said, I personally think that people not taking the time to learn minimal things about a foreign country they visit reflects badly upon them. But, I am obviously in the minority.

I've always kinda liked "San Quitin" as in I'm quitin'. I've refrained from using BOLA since Roberto pointed out what an insult that was to the people of Bahia de Los Angeles. Having lived in San Francisco, I share natives' umbrage at "Frisco". But, ultimately this is an unwinable battle, no?

I'm also amazed at how many people holding themselves out as "Mexico Experts" refer to "ViNcente Fox". The man's name is Vicente, just like Vicente Fernandez. It may be the equivalent of Vincent in English, but there is no such Mexican name as "Vincente", unless of course...

BTW, "Guero Negro" would make kind of an interesting paradox, no?

Tiajuana? It probably started out like that but, I think the A has officially been dropped.

So, how about a stateside error ....Mission Viejo.
La Mision--fem......would be followed correctly by Vieja but, it sounded better the incorrect way.

Bad spellers have a purpose: they give good spellers opportunities to feel superior.

At least that's the way it was pre-Spell Check.

It's one of the reasons there's also a Google search box at the bottom of the page - and if you'll notice, the default is simply a search of this site.

Try searching for "Guerro Negro" and see what you get.
