manolo doing what he does best
I just found this photo of Manolo doing what he loves to do which is cook for people...he is always cooking for us at our family gatherings and sunday
feasts and he also is known for his patience when communicating with gringos...he's a great spanish teacher and an integral part of our spanish
immersion programs. Hurry back Manolo!

Good news with Manolo getting better. Again thanks to everyone for all the donations, they will be muchly appreciated. Believe it or not we have
raised $1,500 for his family and their needs and the money is being wired down to thier family in La Paz. If any more donations come in they will be
sent with the next wire transfer.
Super job everyone, Baja Nomads are a very special group of people and we are proud to be part of this group.
Cheers everyone. There will be a party at the Beach House in Bahia Asuncion over the Christmas holidays this year, as usual, and our best hope is
that Manolo and his family can be there to join us. Oh and yes to cook for us once again as well would be great. You are all invited.

Thanks for taking care of it, Mike.
I hope that when they show up at your party they bring more of those traditional Christmas treats they brought last year---forget the name, but don't
forget the taste.
We hope that he just continues to improve rapidly.

Mike, I don't know if we met over New Years in Bahia Asuncion but hopefully we will down the road a piece.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness and efforts on behalf of Manolo. You make the Nomads proud.

Absolutely great news !!
Hoping Noe and Ismael are finally able to relax - I'm sure this has been particularly tough on both of them.

YES YES YES Every day I open Nomads and look for a report on his condition. From the second picture posted here, I feel like I know him already. It
will be a special moment indeed to meet him in the future.

Last night Manolo took a turn for the worst...he has an infection they can't treat because the medecine would damage his kidneys so he had a very high
fever and were going to put the tubes back in etc...we were so down this morning when we heard...but a few minutes ago, his brother in law Tomas (the
hardware store owner) called us and said this morning Manolo is much better....the padre bathed him and he even walked around a bit which makes us all
feel so happy. The whole family is incredibly grateful for all of you who sent donations..they are so impressed with your caring....gracias amigos

Shari,
I've been following this thread closely. Although I don't know you or him, I've been thinking positively for him and his family/friends. I'm sorry
he took a turn for the worse last night, and hope he continues on the upward swing. A nice bath and a walk can do wonders! Anyway, my positive
thoughts continue...

Oh yes, he and Tomas are very close, I spoke to him this morning again and he says that yesterday Manolo was cruisin around in a wheelchair...turns
out the infection came from the IV thingy so they took it out and viola...his temperature came down and he was smiling and even talked to his son on
the phone!! Again he mentioned how incredible it is that all of you care so much and he believes that together we saved his life. So great to have a
happy ending story! We were talking today about how Manolo prepares abalone...most of us slice it thin in medallion type shape and Manolo slices a
whole ab in half and pounds it out till it's like a tortilla size and breads it and cooks it in garlic butter...oh please hurry home Manolo!

That is the way John said his family always cooked it long ago.
Just so happy to hear good news about Manolo. Do they have any idea how much longer he will be in the hospital? The longer one is in a hospital
anywhere, the more likely they are to pick up a serious infection. Hope he is home soon.
Interesting about the connection to Tomas----Tomas, the really nice man we like a lot, but boy can he sell me something whether I really want it or
not.
