Calamajue and Ensenada Grande dangerous

Who has camped at these bays?
I have camped at each bay several times. I was just there last week and on my way out we stopped to talk to Coco. He told us we should stay away from those bays because they are often used to bring drugs in by Pangas. Coco also said 6 months ago someone was camping there and was held at gunpoint until the drug runners cut his fuel lines and took all his fuel. I dont doubt what Coco is saying. Just wondering if anyone here has run into problems there

Have heard that about Calamajue for several years now. No verified incidents though.

Not a good idea to spread this sort of thing all over the Internet, IMO. :light:

Just wait until the SD Onion-Trick newspaper picks up this news or the OC fishwrap needs some filler for their pathetic daily offerings.

I wouldn't worry about drug lords scanning this site, but it has been demonstrated that these two newspapers will do it to feed their anti-Baja expose needs.

This morning, the LA Times posted an article about the plane stolen from a young family in Loreto. It's getting bad out there...

The Times also had a renewed warning about travel in the border zones of Mexico. Specifically mentioned violence involving US citizens and tourists.

Doesnt this seem like about 6 months late? Nothing's happened to tourists by car, recently, that I can remember.

Typical Anti-Baja reporting is a self-licking ice cream cone with an eternal deja-vu button on the side.

I have now seen three different reports published that report "accurately" that the theft of the plane from an American family occured in CSL, Loreto and Mulege all at the same time. The quantity of injured and violence against the Americans varied as well.

Looks like Baja Sur is trying to replace Baja Norte as the "crimes against American visitors" capital that SoCal newspapers need when they are busy feeding the anti-immigrant frenzy in the US.

The misery index in the US which is skyrocketing, demands that the US population gets regular doses of more bad news about more places on Earth. This way, US citizens can say: "Look at that horrible place" and forget that they live in the most violent (measured by murders per day) and most business immoral (measured by subprime mortgage disaster) place on Earth that is not currently occupied by another Nation's military force.

For the so-called writers from So Cal newpapers who regularly lurk this site, you should be ashamed to show your name or face in public when speading this tripe.

Duo, do you have anything but an attack on another Nomad to offer to the discussion?

No attack, just a observation. Considering your constant anti-american ravings, I would hope you would have enough character not to accept any US. entitlements. NOT!
