Thoughts for Iflyfish

Mr. Fish has recently undergone major surgery which will hopefully allow him to get around without the constant pain that he has dealt with for years.
Unfortunately, he has a history of difficulties in prior surgery.
I'm sending "positive vibes" his way and know he would appreciate the support of his Nomad friends.

All our good wishes go out to The Fly Guy. He has more compassion and understanding in his scapula and flexion than I do in my whole whatchacallit. If he heals, his body can almost catch up with his wonderful wandering mind. Good luck doc. He probably won't need it because medical procedures have come a long way. He'll have orthoscopic surgery where they give you really good dope, stick needles in you, you pay at the desk, then you can go home. You don't really care and all you remember is the tasty strawberry jello.

I very much appreciate the generous comments and good vibes, prayers, thoughts etc. Osprey is right, pharmaceutical grade is the best!

All kidding aside I just got home, hospitalized on Monday at 1pm and back home Wednesday at 5pm and climbed 15 stairs to reach my bedroom.

I am glad I waited for this new procedure, Called True Anterior Total Hip Replacement. I required only a four inch incision and no ligaments, tendons or muscles are cut so the entire support structure for the hip is left in place. There are no real restrictions on my activiities save for those realated to the incision. In six weeks I should have back my original mobility. I am greatful for my Nomad friends and your thoughts and prayers. I thouhgt that some of you might also be interested in the procedure as many of us will face that in the coming years. They have this one down pat!!

15 stairs already IFF? You're gonna have no problem with recovery whatsoever!
Still, I'll send my prayers your way.

Glad to hear it went smoothly for you Flyfish.

It was wise of you to put it off as they are constantly coming up with better materials for the replaced hip - materials that diminish the need to replace the replaced hip. I'm getting a knee replaced some day and am delaying it as well.

Surgery is always a risk. Glad it went well for you and hope to see you with your arms around another 50lber soon.

Thanks my Nomad friends, I will be double hauling soon!

The methods used today would not be recognized ten years ago. The nurses at the hosp were echoing Skip...put it off as long as you can, with the caviot that you do not want to further injure other joints as you wait.

Hey Fish! Get it together for Asuncion yellowtail season! This is the year I'm going to catch the big yellow and beat your record!
( I wish! )

Hope all goes well!

Total hip replacement and back on your feet in 6 weeks. Modern medical science has come a long way. Continued recuperation and good fishing.:tumble:

Just read this---

First of all, thanks Diver for letting us all know.:yes:

Second, Rick it is WONDERFUL that you are doing so great---boy, that surgery has really changed.

Now just when are you going to return to Bahia Asuncion not just to fish, but to see and meet some of the Lobos Marino's bike club that you so generously helped?:lol:

Besides, didn't Juan beat your record by a little bit? You can't let him get away with that, now can you?

Hope to see you down here.

D

After the shock of the xray so generously posted by grover I have decided that I was not given the entire deal. I now see that I have been very confused about the correct administration site for that product in the picture, you are truely a very bad man, I mean it Grover! I mean seriously bad.....

We are hoping to return to Baja this winter and of course would want to see and spend time with our good friends there. There were a lot of folks who contributed to that wonderful project in Asuncion and I hope that there will be another round of opportunities to support that great work. That pic of the little kid with mom and dad running their hearts out beside him says it all.

I have flashbacks on a nearly daily basis of fishing with Juan, what an honor, what a Gentleman! Next time I bring the flyrod! Flyfishing in Baja is a dream and there are some great Nomads to hook up with! I look forward to that!

Mrsfish was saying to me today, "we have to get back down there and visit our Nomad friends", always nice to hear that motivation coming from her! I got hooked on Baja the year they paved Hwy 1, it haunts my dreams and now with Nomads, my waking hours too.

Thanks for all the kind words and wishes. Heroditus said "no man ever steps into the same river twice" so true and it is also true that there are innumerable rivers eh?
