Thanks all, I shall pass on your greetings today...yesterday the Mother's day bash got way too wild and crazy and we ended up staying there much tooo long and had an outrageous time...picture this...over 400 ladies all dressed up...women who rarely go out and never allowed to drink beer...suckin back tecate like there was no maņana...they fed us all, plied us with beer, entertainment, a huge raffle where everyone got a prize, and then a wild dance where the seņoras let their hair down....way down...it was hilarious to see them in their heels staggering around on the dancefloor with a tecate in their hand!!!! No men allowed so they were totally uninhibited. My friend Suzanna from Vancouver was here to witness the spectacle and sure enjoyed THIS cultural phenomenon. Anyway....Manolo will have to wait till today...

Actually May 10th IS the Oficial Mother's Day in Mexico! No matter what day it falls on everyone gets the day off and a big party is held in every town and village honouring the moms in a big way.

So this afternoon I was able to finally give Manolo a big hug in person...he's at home with his family and very happy to be among the living. He lost some weight and has lots of impressive scars everywhere...the big zipper on his head is something else! He is very weak still but is gaining strength daily and should be ready to cook for us all by the Christmas holidays!!!! He personally wanted to extend his thanks for all your support...their family hasn't had an income for 8 weeks and the money sent was put to a very good use for travel and medications and made the whole ordeal much easier to deal with. I couldnt bear to take a picture as he is still very weak but at the first party, I will or maybe when he's feeling a bit better. But he has ALL his faculties and will fully recover. HIs first day out of the hospital, his brother in law showed up with some sink parts cause he couldn't figure out how to put them all together so he woke Manolo up for a bedside consultation!!! Boy do we hope he recovers quickly...everyone has along list of little jobs for him. Gracias NOmads for your overwhelming support in time of need.

I've been thinking here washing dishes from yet another great Arce/Nomad Abalone dinner bash. I have been reading a lot of kind of nasty comments about each other on this board and I just wanted to express my heartfelt thanks to the NOMAD Board...the last couple of years through this board I have met some outstanding human beings who changed our life in so many positive ways...I am listening to my Michael McDonald Motown collection...thanks to lurker Kevin...can watch a DVD amigos have shared, have a fantastic library, lots of cool used clothes thanks primarily to Baja Boy's trendy friends who are my size, can print photos for the locals and give away herb teas to my cuņadas....turn them onto new foods like pesto and bagels, even look good in a bajagypsy skull bikini....and Juan has been blessed by quantities of fishing gear to play with, Harley T-shirts, sirena has cool clothes, surf stuff for her pals etc etc etc...you see how our new friends from this board have enriched not only our lives but of our family and friends here too...it is a wonderful cultural sharing experience for all of us and we are all learning from each other.

Yes we come from different backgrounds, economic conditions, countries and cultures but we are all human and want to be happy in our own ways. And we have alot to share when we come together....I thank my amigos here for their kindness, understanding, support, generosity and sincere friendship.

Well said Shari...we all need to focus more on the positive and bite our tongues with anything negative. Life is too short.
