New Spot ?
Leaving San Felipe and turning south on the Highway at the Airport Intersection, I noticed that there was a new "Guvment" Highway sign just below the
Puertecitos distance sign:
El Hurfanito 100

Maybe it should be "Los Huerfanitos."

If you add up the AAA map miles from the airport turnoff to El Huerfanito, you get 65.7 (X 1.6 for kilometers) = 105 kms. That's not too far off, I
guess... strange they made money for a sign to there and not San Luis Gonzaga...??

Since we're picking nits, and for your continuing education in things Baja it's El Huerfanito. Refers to an island (and a location)

Picking Nits - T.I.M.
After seeing the movie "Blood Diamond" last year wherein in the old hands shrugged off all of the chaos as "T.I.A." (this is Africa), I began to favor
the term T.I.M. for like descriptions. I'm trying to start a trend. So far, I've had one friend that it stuck with, but I'm persistent and (taking a
page from the Kenyan) remain hopeful.
Actually, maybe it's just an example of The Latin American Green movement. Why waste a perfectly good sign and strain the environment by producing a
replacement ? In that sense, they've been way ahead of us for years, the most aged example on the Mexicali - San Felipe run being "Yurimuri",
"Yorimuri" signage within a short distance of each other for many, many years.
One of my personal favorites was the "Lena" sign north of town for many years that read "Firemood", but that wasn't a Government
sign.
BTW, 10-4 for on the S. That was MY error for the month. I added the "s" without noticing. Can't blame that on the Civil Service.
T.I.M.

Thanks MrBill, the distance to Puertecitos (they even spelled it right) is within a mile of the AAA map's distance!
We will be passing that sign tomorrow, after some fish tacos...
Here's a photo of El Huerfanito (The Little Orphan) taken last year...
