Asuncion shaking it up...again!
The last few days I had heard rumbilings of locals asking if we had felt the tremors...I had felt my desk and chair moving a bit but thought I was
just imagining it ....or that the blowhole was just shaking the house a bit. Then last night we were having a birthday dinner at Ramona's with a group
who flew in from Gonzaga when the sound of a freight train coming down main street was heard and the restaurant started a shakin....it was awesome! It
was about 10:00 or so but it certainly woke up the village and drove everyone outside and started the town chattering. Pam was pleased about a
birthday earthquake! Another little tremor a few minutes ago too....hmmm....got my emergency pack ready again and car parked facing out!

How come they don't show up on the earthquake site?
<http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Maps/10/245_30.php>. Normally all earthquakes are shown here when they excede 2.5. Keep us
posted

Johannes,
These folks are probably right on top of an ongoing event. They hear booming noises, some venting in the past.

No, the BA quakes do not show up on that site, but trust me, they are real. While we find them quite different than the ones we have experieced in
California, they are earthquakes---very loud ones.
They tend to come in clusters. We had several at the end of 2007 and they all came within a couple of weeks. That was the same pattern that happened
when they first happened the year before. There was one last week very early in the morning, the morning we left. Sounds like there have been more
since.
None of the earthquakes ever showed on that site, but it was serious enough that when the first cluster happened, the army came in and evacuated the
town --- that was before we bought our home there---didn't stop us. It appears that there is a local fault that has become active.
Just keeps Bahia Asuncion interesting.

Hi Shari,
We will be there next month with a big bottle of tequila.
What we see depends mainly on what we look for.

Actually I believe both Upper and Lower California are traveling together. The new coastline will be very majestic as the surf crashes on the
beaches of the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains.

According to a bible-reading friend of mine, the world is coming to an end on May 21, 2011. So we really don't have to worry about that asteriod. God
I hope the Chargers win the Super Bowl by then. (Yes I'm asking him directly!)

Well, according to the lyrics of a song by Shango (don't you just love google?), the big one is going to split the west coast a bit farther east.
"Day after day, more people come to L.A.
Ssh! Don't you tell anybody the whole place is slipping away.
Where can we go when there's no San Francisco?
Ssh! Better get ready to tie up the boat in Idaho. "

The Maya and many other cultures say that a new world will begin on December 11, 2012.
I thought that scientists came to Ascuncion during the last swarm of movement events, and said that the Viscaino peninsula is breaking off. Wasn't
their some salt water intrusion in the inland wells already?

When the first swarm of earthquakes hit in 2006, the scientists set up shop --- not for long. We were not there at the time, but from what we told
they just said there was a local fault there that was moving and not to worry.
Now, if the Viscaino peninsula broke off---gees, I always thought living on an island would be fun!
But then again, that would cause a problem with our water since it comes from the other side of Viscaino.
It will be interesting to see if there is another cluster and then months of silence once again.

The history channel had a program on a couple of weeks ago that said it wouldn't be until 2012. Might give them one more season and Him a little
leeway.

him, her, or IMHO, them---all without capitalization, leeway.
Guess we will just have to hang around and see what happens.
Just as a side note re: the quakes in BA, our big dog always knows it is coming before we do. He gets restless, barks, and then the quake hits.
Wonder if he will feel the end before we do

Nomads,
I wish those religious Armageddon types would get their dates straight....it's hard to plan a trip with that range of variance.
As for the critters.....well, I just don't know (ie. same as religious prognosticators):
