We were hit there once, too, well over a year now. The posted speed limit at that point is 36 MPH, and on a four-lane highway no less. It stays at
that ridiculous limit until you get to the Federal portion.
I suspect there is little incentive to change the limit since La Paz is probably raking in almost as much as the cops on this speed trap.

The cop told us that the speed limit was 40kph = 24mph. Can you imagine going 24 mph on a 4 lane highway when the flow of traffic including trucks
and busses is 60 mph+? It goes from 40 kph to 90 kph at the federal section with no change in road conditions or habitation. We were stopped 1
kilometer from the 90 kph sign.
This cop was not lurking on the side of the road. He came up behind us as we were doing 60 kph or less. He was cruising the highway looking for a
likely victim.
This is a setup with some folks making some money on the side.

I have been targeted on the same stretch of road a number of times now. Try towing a boat with US plated truck...it's a true mordida magnet. 2 years
ago we were hit up 3 out of 4 trips through La Paz. Pulled over by the same cop twice. Even he had a laugh when I pointed out that we had just "done
business" a few days before...but he still wanted his "multa".

I have been pulled over a couple of times .....once in Ensanada very early in the morning with a detor....what a set up....however while they were
telling me to get out of the car.....through the cracked window...I called my stafford shire up into my lap and told her to "get um" under my
breath....oh boy did they change their minds in a hurry....I told them in muffled spanish it was tooooooo dangerous to open the door....they ran back
to the cop car and I drove off laughing.....
what ever works......

I always keep a disposable camera in my car when traveling Hwy 1 in case of an accident. Not having been stopped in over 15 years of driving it twice
a year, reading this topic, why wouldn't a picture of the cop & his pickup work? I think that enough "stink" might cause the tourism dept of La
Paz to maybe put some pressure on this guy? Huh????????? Or tourism dept of Baja Sur???????

He was not wearing any name identification. I wasn't about to ask him for ID because he made it obvious he wasn't going to take any guff from me. He
was really into his "macho" role, especially when he told me, "I AM the law."
As I said earlier, I am kicking myself for not writing down his pickup truck license number.
I drive to La Paz frequently. This guy is going to be on MY radar. I will be sure to take my digital camera along.

Exactly! And I wonder what the ratio is of foreign plated cars to Mexico plates as a percentage of each traveling on that section of road.
Yes, I believe that there is more than one guy doing this. A small group of La Paz cops as found a section of road that is "golden."

It's my understanding that La Paz City Police (the guys in the white trucks) jurisdiction ends at the city limits & the Federal Police in the
black & whites takes over....like on the highway beyond the PEMEX station near Comitan, just past El Centenario & likewise on the road to Cabo
before you get to the LP plant. It sounds to me like these guys are really outside their authorized jurisdiction....not that that would have any
moral weight considering their actions....but if I were stopped by a city cop in what clearly falls under Federal jurisdiction, I'd demand a
ticket AND be encouraging him to follow me back to the station in La Paz to sort it all out with his superiors!

Are you certain about the city limits being at the LP plant on the road out of town ? Others have said before that it is all the way out near
the hwy19 turn-off ....
I am considering making my supply trips to Cabo rather than La Paz ..... don't need the tsores
