Fireworks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Many homes were lost in Cantu recently. Had the winds not shifted at last minute Puerto Escondido and La Jolla Camp could have become lost.
MY POINT- fireworks sold at La Bufadora- Celia's, are of military grade. The remaining brush is still with us. I think if the locals in La Jolla, Cantu and La Bufadora remind the shop in her store, sell them, but if you fire them locally it will not be tolerated. I think this is a prudent and safe method of protection considering the local
Bomberos will be very active.

Actually, due to the excellent work by the volunteer fire department, NO homes were lost. But the point is still quite valid.

I stand corrected!

The homes, cars and some animals that were involved were above Ramajal. This info was from a person that lives in the area. You are correct Cantu was saved due to the fine work of the Bomberos.

Saw your flower pic in the other thread and love it---and yes, that is the only type of fireworks I hope we get down here!

Actually, I love fireworks in the right place---big and small fireworks, but they also cause a lot of human and property damage if now used correctly.

Besides, one of my dogs is terrified of fireworks, so I would rather look at that beautiful flower.

Al Gore says "BAN Those Fireworks" !

Well, maybe he didn't say it, but he would !

A feature article in today's "West Coast Communist People's Daily World" aka the Los Angeles Times notes that the Fireworks displays are BAD for the environment ! Whoa. Big revelation there. Who said those Liberals were slow-witted ? And, who would have thought that exploding Black Powder along with a host of other chemicals in the atmosphere might cause a problem ?

Now that the word is out, I expect all good doctrinaire defenders of Mother Tierra to fall into lockstep in condemning this aerial rape of our home planet. Attack those Fireworks vendors and users just as you would any other profligate polluter.

Power to the Druids.

Seems like most of the cities around SF Bay have banned the sale and use of 'safe & sane' fireworks this year. On one of the local news stations last night, there was mention of a fireworks stand in Gilroy, CA that was sponsored by the California Highway Patrol selling legal fireworks. You had to show an ID with a Gilroy address in order to buy from the stand. If you didn't live in Gilroy, you had to sign a form stating that you would only light your fireworks within the Gilroy city limits.

I think the world is run by C- students.

Wait a minute. Let's think this through. All the compounds in fireworks were derived from our environment -- the sulfur, metals, paper, etc. By firing them off, aren't we just returning those things back to nature and restoring the natural balance of things?

Farting is also bad for the environment; and F 350's and cigars.
Don't tell the greenies or I'll be a wanted man !! :lol::lol::lol:

I have to check; I may already be banned in California !!

Now where is that 1/4 stick of dynamite I had left over from my bass fishing trip last spring ?

For obvious reasons the usual grand firewords display here in Redding, CA was cancelled------first time in memory (at least mine, which doesn't say much). It was very quiet last night.

Like Diane ("JDTrotter") and others, I comforted myself by looking at the incredible flower display in my back yard, and wishing our Country a happy birthday in silence. We were pretty much smoke-free yesterday for the first time in weeks.

Hopefully next year will be back to normal. :o
