Fuel prices for July 2008...

Gasoline prices for the current month:

Magna.............$ 6.92 pesos per liter
Premium..........$ 8.64 pesos per liter
Diesel..............$ 5.91 pesos per liter

These prices are in liters, since 1 gallon = 3.7854 liters.

Today (July 8th) 1 dollar = $ 10.20 pesos (+/-)

Using the previous information, this is what we have....

Magna.............$ 2.568 dollars per gallon
Premium..........$ 3.206 dollars per gallon
Diesel..............$ 2.193 dollars per gallon

No shortages of fuel at BajaCactus in El Rosario so far.

Happy and safe travels my friends!!!

Thanks Antonio... Great to see you posting here again!

We are sure going to miss El Rosario this year, with the Festival cancelled... but totally understand why and don't blame anyone!

That dancing kid could have been anywhere, but the latino ladies do have a Baja-like look to them.
However, I too fail to see what the video has to do with gas pumping in Baja:?::?::?::?::?::?::!:

There have actually been MASSIVE price increases in Baja diesel.

Diesel prices from Antonio;

Today $2.19
July '07 $2.00
March '07 $1.95
June '06 $1.81

That's $.38 increase in 2 years; that's a 10.5% increase per year.
And I love it !!

I don't even want to think about the percentage increase over the same time in the US; somewhere over 40% this year !! :fire:

On edit;
Thank you Antonio, your information is much appreciated.

Diver...I believe it was a reference to the request for "flirting young women" on another thread...but a dancinig young boy???
Maybe this could be a great ideal...have all the attendants dance while serving...would be a hit. Even better...go-go dancers.

Antonio... maybe check out the Vagabundos message board... a rumor was posted that your station rationed diesel to 50 litres. I posted your prices there, including the statement of no shortages, so far...

Rationing...

David,

Lately it has been really difficult to maintain a healthy level of Diesel in out tanks... so far we have managed not to run out of diesel at any time, however, a couple of times in order to avoid anyone from getting stranded down there, we have been forced to ration the amount of diesel being sold to the minimum needed by our customer, so they can get to next point in their destination where they can find diesel.

We have done this a few times in the last couple of weeks... once we got so low that we stopped selling diesel and reserved the little we had ONLY for US customers, so they could keep going.

It has been really difficult for us at BajaCactus to deal with all these down in El Rosario, specially because there are many people who are not conscious enough and want to get all the diesel they can get for themselves.

As we see it, this is one of those times when really have to be team players, until this crisis is over.

Regarding the Festival... there is going to be a small one in El Rosario this year, just this time I was unable to get involved... and with all that is going on, I have not been able to even ask about it... maybe next year.

Hugs everyone,

Antonio M.

Why was the festival cancelled?

I posted this on June 13, in the thread by BajaCactus, "I am Back":

BAJA-ROSARIO CULTURAL FESTIVAL

El Rosario Festival is postponed until next year (2009)...

I received an email today from Kim Williams who owns the gift shop (fossils, maps, rocks) on the southbound side of El Rosario... it was about Antonio and the festival so I am mentioning it in this thread...

Without Antonio's efforts, the town just didn't seem able to put it together. Here is a short piece of Kim's email regarding it:

"... we will not be having a Rosario Festival 2008...but hopefully by next year whatever responsibilities to Pemex - Antonio had this year will be taken care of and we can move toward another event with his full participation in 2009. I am always on board whenever he is ready to proceed."
