bold rip -off
just got a call from a friend in regards to another friend's son and daughter in-law.after spending a couple of weeks all over baja on the way home
they stopped in at la fonda wher they were greeted at gunpoint and had their truck and entire contents (surfboards etc.) taken fro them.
so, be careful in that area-i wouldn't expect this at that location.

La Fonda
Next to Km. 58/Alistos south of Rosarito, on the old Hwy. 1 (free road), just before it turns inland towards La Mision.

You have a good memory. It wasn't an LA cop it was one our finer SDPD cops and it has been over 20 years ago. One hell of a cop but he set himself
up by pulling down into the ravine that runs into the ocean from the free road just north of Playa La Mision. No one could see their camper from
either road.
Needless to say he has very few nice things to say about Baja.
In my first book I tell the story of my wife being robbed at gun point in our casita in La Salina. The same guy killed an old gringo in Playa la
Mision a week later. The Mexican cops eventually caught the 'American' who had also killed someone in Flordia.

Was this at night or during the day time? We had breakfast at La Mission yesterday morning. What a real drag to say the least. Hope they are okay.
Thanks for the info.

unfortunately i don't have all the details.could very well have been people from our side of the border.the only thing i know is the local authorities
are "on it" and have either seen the truck or have in fact retrieved it.more as his dad finds out more.from the sounds of it, it happened in the am
when they were getting ready to head home.

Rip Off
Just a few years ago a friend 's mother and her husband were murdered in Rosarito. I also believe the murderer and his other slime side were captured
or he was killed by the police. Another protection I have started to carry is a 3 million candle light lantern. I have given an undesireable the
full force of the light and he was blinded for enough time for me to have taken him apart with other means had I desired. Which I will not mention
how. Anyone carrying a cross bow?

approached by two guys about 30.one shot two rounds into the air, then another two at his feet.the wife and dog start freaking out .the two take their
truck and all it's contents- a 2001 silver toyota xtra-cab 4x4 with green camper shell.inside were two andaerson surfboards and camping gear.now here
is the real bummer-he stayed in baja one day past his insurance
termination.(ouch!)any help/input would be appreciated.thanks.(i myself am still keeping an open mind as to what actually took place)

I think a open mind is really important on this one.

Now it sounds even fishier!
4 shots fired in broad daylight at La Fonda on a Friday or Saturday around noon.
Had to be gringos if it happened at all. Mexicans are much smarter than that.
If this actually happened, a report to the soldiers would have started a full scale assault to find the culprits.
Don't suppose they got a license number, filed a police report, or anything like that. Or witnesses? 12:00 noon on a Friday or Saturday at La
Fonda???
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm........

Things would have been absolutely hopping at La Fonda at that time of day. Big lunch crowd, people checking in and out of the hotel. Four shots
fired in that area at that time would have the local cops and the army down there in minutes, not to mention George's security guard, the guy who
watches the cars at Hotel La Mision, etc. And the guy overstayed on his insurance? Real big HMMMMMMMMMMM from me. I'll be sure to ask about this
the next time I stop in for lunch.

Just teasing
on that one Bob. Mexicans generally don't have guns. The ones that do are not into stealing trucks as a rule.
Can't wait to hear the outcome of this one

Pappy Keep us updated!
Good to hear the perps were caught. We spend LOTS of time in the area, even though it's not the 'real Baja'
We will wait to get ALL the facts when the next issue of the GG comes out!
