Change is happening

For good, bad, or whatever, in anticipation of the completion of the road, change is happening in Bahia Asuncion--

In addition to more homes being built, at the beginning town, a new hotel is going up

Another one is planned across the street. We hear work will begin in September---of course, we will believe it when we see it happen. But if it is built and looks anything like the sign, it will be a fancy one.

And, the price of scrap metal must be way up and we are seeing it being collected all over town----a good thing.

More than one old camper that looks like this now.

Ah, but the shells havin't changed.

We do wonder if the road will bring that many more tourists---will be interesting.

Good update.....Change is a coming...I had better get over there before it's all modern and like Orange County.

Should be good. That last section of road was a little brutal after a 500 mile haul from the border.

The new store in town is hoping to open next month. Nothing more has been done on the new beach side bar, yet.

There is also talk about a new fully equiped RV park, and talk about more fancy resorts, and talk about new restaurants, and talk, and more talk, and more talk----and we even heard talk about a golf course even with all our water problems. A golf course would be interesting, however, to watch how golfers correct for the strong wind.:lol:

Meantime, life is good here and this is the way we usually enjoy fishing.:lol:

Perfect! In short order you'll have SoCal in yer back yard. I hope those hotels are "all-inclusive". We wouldn't want folks thinkin' they didn't have all the creature comforts. Heck, all you need is a desal plant.;D

Shari....better upgrade now!!

Can Molly come too? After a 60 mile atv trip the last thing I want to see is an RV resort

The cleanup has taken some history as well. This VW bus was a landmark for years on the old road from HWY 1 to Abreojos. Alas I am afraid its one of my beer cans now.

Well, we will believe it all when it actually happens---oh, we told the people who want to build the RV park that Abreojos was a MUCH better location and they should check it out.:lol:

You and Molly will still need to settle for our front porch--cerveza will always be cheaper---Maggie is even getting better with other dogs!.

I really do hope that all the new structures, especially those more than one story are built to be earthquake tough. It would be a terrible thing if a multistoried hotel went up and then down with lots of people in it.
Those quakes in Asuncion were pretty high on the scale.

Oh great Vacaenbaja, one more thing for my 85 year old mom to worry about for when we move down there.

I thought I had her pacified when I said there were no bars in Asuncion.

Think I will show her this picture that Diane put up with the tackle box and rod. She might get suspisious if there ain't no 6 pack tho.

Who knows you better then your mother?

Thanks Diane for the update......Tim is in a panic now.

Tell your mom that the earthquakes are not that bad, just REALLY loud. But don´t tell her that there is a bar in town, the Rincon across from the Hotel Verduzco. I think you two were too busy catching fish to see it.:yes:

Need to get down here---panic is not good for the health.

See you soon???

It is always good to keep options open. My mother, who died at 90, would have bolted to the bar for a drink at first sign of a shake. :bounce::bounce::o:o:wow:

I think the new hotel is only 2 stories...just the same, I would opt for the 2nd floor rooms! What I am enjoying is watching many of our family and friends improving their homes...new stucco, paint, additions...as if the building craze is catching and locals are fixing up their places too. The ejido members are selling out the whole coastline to international corporations and will be very wealthy very soon which has spawned some of these industrious projects...time will tell...hope they finish the little bar by our place this summer!
