"The News" is back!
Mexico's former premier English language newspaper has returned and also has an online version. Although published in Mexico City, this relates to
Baja because The News covers all of Mexico and the world and is of particular interest to English speakers living anywhere in Mexico. Also, it MAY be
less biased than certain other rags I could name.

Oso, I have not read 'The News' since forever. That newspaper brings back lots of memories from Acapulco and Mexico City.

You are all quite welcome. I was alerted to this by a fellow UdLA alum. Also of possible interest to some, the current incarnation of the school in
Puebla is reaching out to alumni for old photos etc. of the early days of Mexico City College for the school newsletter.
It's in Spanish- the majority of students are Mexican now- but the current issue has an interesting piece on William Burrough's days at MCC:

While skimming through the newspaper a bit I read with interest the article on pulque. Have any of you fellow Nomads tried this "white, viscous
drink"? Since it contains "protein and minerals" and is "often used to augment diets based on corn tortillas and beans", I'm thinking it might fit
into my latest diet fad very well.

I too want to thank you. I have been watching for it but missed the notice. Just as they drew their last breath (after 71 years of PRI backing) I
applied for a guest columnist position. I did a couple of articles for them about Cabo San Lucas and the (then) Escalera Nautica. I was after being
thought of as "their man in Baja Sur". Maybe I'll reapply and you can read some of my stuff there in the future.

Yes...it's vile...barely drinkable if mixed with fruit juice. It will definitely help your diet if you're thinking bulimia might be a good fad
diet!!!!

I, too, have really missed "The News". However I am disappointed not to see their old food critic, Vicky Coyens(I know that is not correctly
spelled!). I got some really good recipes from her and learned all about the cuts of Mexican beef names and what they were in ingles. She and I
corresponded through email quite frequently.

I read "The News" religiously from 1987 until its demise when PRI lost power and found it to be a pretty good paper. It covered a lot of ground for a
small and seemingly modest publication. How nice that it's back. I'll be interested to see if O'Farril the Younger is still involved. A bit of a
pompous ass, that one, but harmless all in all.

Have as yet to sample the canned version, doubt it's as good. Many good memories of the good stuff with my Otomi mother-in-law,RIP. Regretfully,
can't find any this far north.
