Thanks to all. My preference is not to shave my hair or beard. It's a little complicated. I have a real bad case of turtle-neck, more chins than the Hong Kong phone book and spooky splotches on my head and face from liver disease which scares all the village kids and most of the adults. If I shave everything I'd have to stay in the house til O dark thirty, then just Dracula out and about with a mall shawl. It's important that I stay as active as I can so the hair must stay. I'll try some of those products/processes. We have only one barber here, Fanny, who mistook me for a military man the very first cut and I get the bootcamp clip now, like it or not. Then I just stay at the computer til it grows out a bit.

Try Nexxus Humectress conditioner. There's an excellent conditioner in the Natural Instincts hair color box too. Even if you don't use the colorant, the tube of conditioner is very good - just need a small amount, once a week.

Let the freak flag's fly

Put leave-in condition in your beard. Trim the beard a little more.

Plenty of time to be bald -- like when your hair has thinned and fallen out.
