Palmetto99, Keep up the good work on this board. I, Memo, am a newbie. As a newbie I am more objective in my observations of those who post here. I have no history with any of the Nomads. I have many questions. Number one question, Who is the gordita pictured with Edo? Is it his twin sister or possibly ZorroLee?

Based on the info you've given I can't tell if you actually have hardware damage (pretty rare that a virus can do that) or sofware corruption/infection (remediable by doing a clean install of all the software from scratch, including perhaps a low-level format of your hard drive). The latter is potentially much cheaper to fix, since it doesn't require purchasing new iron.

It's sort of moot since you've already bought another system, but your old one may be perfectly good if someone wants to just clean it up.

I agree on punishment. It's terrorism and should be treated as such.

If you do get rid of your old tower, maybe you could consider reformatting the drive yourself before you get rid of it.

I'm a Mac user and not really familiar with your operating system, but with a Mac one can easily (and inadvertently) store information to automatically fill in fields. Information like names, addresses, emails, even possibly birthdays and SS#s. You indicated that you want to keep that info confidential so be careful.

Besides being careful about what you receive, take care with info you send. Some site registrations ask for birthdates; use a fake. Take care in letting your computer "remember" sensitive passwords or personal information.

I also password protect my computer; you need a password to log on so if it is stolen, the bandito cannot log on to Baja Nomad and impersonate me.
