Cure for Baja Negative Overload

Cheers to more photos, trip reports, restaurant/lodging referrals, fishing/boating adventures, recipes and fun.

I took this from another thread----a very nice post.

When we have to leave Baja and I find myself quickly suffering from Baja Negative Overload that has recently flooded this board, I hang out in the Photo Gallery---hard to be negative when looking at everyone's photos.:yes:

Now I hope we see more of what Bajadock cheers. JMHO

Saturday we attended an event at the winery LA Cetto in the Guadalupe Valley, up above Ensenada. It was an incredible day with perfect weather, great food, wine and the company of good friends with music and dance. Here is a photo I took at the event.

I love calling this place my home...

How come those people are all smiling and laughing? Oh, I know, that must be very clear bullet proof glass in those openings.:lol:

Thanks, it looks like it was a good time.

OH NO, another smile! This might be catching!:yes:

Some of my all time favorite photos can be found on THIS THREAD

They are the ones of Baja Nomad's son and FDTs daughter and speak for themselves. If you have never seen them, do look.

It is also a thread about a wonderful event.

BajaGringo "I love calling this place my home..."

If I lived in a winery I would love calling it home too. Can I visit? Don't really drink all that much.

Nice pic.

I just took this photo of a junior nomad who got his biggest fish he ever caught today in San Hipolito. It was great because we didn't plan to go fishing but just got invited out by a neighbour of my family there...impromptu(sp?) fishing...love it...that was one happy kid!

The grandkids of a Nomad amigo had a terrific time playing baseball, boogie boarding, fishing, learning how to clean and scale fish, eating black sea bass tacos, and making new friends...the photo is of our family and the nomad family and friends in san hipolito....THIS is what baja is all about!

Gypsy,
In that picture one does not need to see the faces to see the smiles---nice one.

Don,
I always wanted blue lipstick. I remember white and purple lipstick, but never wore blue.

Shari,
That boy is going to be spoiled and will need to come back and fish. Looks like they had a GREAT time. What a nice grandpa to take them to Baja. Great experience for them.

Keep on smilin
Diane

The blending of young and old.

This easy togetherness is what endears me to family life in rural Baja...so much like the country people of my home state, USA. All generations living in close harmony.

Now the fishing..well...that's a whole different passion!

Wow! That's the biggest calico I've ever seen.

It sure looks like a calico bass.

Thanks jdtrotter and Sheri...The info and experiences you post is the most important reason I read and comment here. My experiences in Baja have been varied and exciting, not all positive but mostly so. I do not dwell on the negative, got enough of that in Estados Unidos. Good people, good times and fish tacos. That's the formula for a better life. Lets keep these pages informative but not dogmatic. The families in Sheri's photos look contented. Perhaps I should come down and learn to boogie board.

PS What lures do you use to catch fish tacos?

Hmmm...................

What's more annoying, using the horizontal scroll bar, or flashing animated gifs?

There are so many positive things about baja, here's two:

Pompano is so right...what the family we brought to san hipolito was most impressed with was how wonderfully friendly all the people were and how they let the little kids play ball with them too...how they all got along so well together...young and old/mexican & gringos(not derogatory)...how the whole family gets together in the afternoon....how happy everyone was. They can't wait to come back.
And skipjack...that fish, the fisherman called it cabrilla pinta...and would have won any tournament around here probably! they were caught on a little lime green sparkly scampi double tail...The kids are out fishing with Juan this morning....report to follow.
Bimbo reported that the fishermen got 4 tons of yellowtail about 10 miles offshore yesterday so they are on their way up!!!

One of the first things that impresed me about Baja (and Mexico in general for that matter), is their reverence for little children. I think that baby was smiling at me.
