Here in Imperial Beach we barely felt it, but knew there was an earthquake because of the lamps swaying.

That was a fun one in Irvine (~15 miles from away) on soft sediment, long and rolling. Nothing fell off shelves but lots of creaking.
A moderate earthquake occurred at 11:42:15 AM (PDT) on Tuesday, July 29, 2008.
The magnitude 5.6 event occurred 3 km (2 miles) SW of Chino Hills, CA.
The hypocentral depth is 12 km ( 8 miles).

Felt it pretty good here in Mission Viejo for about 30 seconds. I was just starting to think that if this thing lasts much

I was standing at the urinal doing my business on the fourth floor of the building where I work in Orange County. I managed to ride it out and finish
my business. When I went back into the office area all the girls were screaming get out get out. So off I went down the stairs with some hysterical
ladies trying to calm them down. That was one of the best ones I have felt in some time.

Hmm, we are 90 miles South of Chino Hills, if that was the epicenter. Didn't feel a thing but we do live on a mountain with much granite, very solid
ground. Hopefully no one incurred much damage. We will have worse, just a matter of when.

From L.A. down to San Diego and even slight feel in El Centro. A quake is a quake is a quake, too many years living through them just do not get
exicited about them. Well, if it ever reaches an 8 then I will probably take notice in ways I never imaged. Shake rattle and roll, just got to love

I always find my fear level with earthquakes directly connected to how close the quake is----have suffered more damage from smaller quakes that were
closer to where I was living---
Also, even after living with them all of my life, I don't think I will ever get used to them---and when there are lots of aftershocks, that gets to my
nerves big time.
Since we are not in Imperial Beach, we barely felt it--so no fear. Also, for some reason, the quakes in Bahia Asuncion don't scare me as much and
they are very localized and VERY loud.
Just glad is sounds like no real problems from this one, the news coverage is endless---don't think they will quit until they find something really
bad to report.

SDRonni, that is my line and everybody tells me I must have no feelings but I
guess I am always in motion and just don't feel them the same as others. This time I was on my motorcycle coming back from El Centro to Brawley and I

Were you around for the 1971 San Fernanado earthquake at 6am on February 9th? I was about 60 miles away in south OC and it was pretty
frightening...............it lasted about 58 seconds. 6.6. Really violent one.

Bajafun777: I know what you mean. I've had several friends call and e-mail and they just can't BELIEVE I didn't feel it! DH was upstairs working
out in the gym and said he felt a little sway and a bit of a bang. I was outside power-washing the deck. You'd think I'd feel it on a deck! But,

I live in south Ontario, used to be Chino, and fairly close to epicenter, 10 miles or so. One heck of a shaker that seemed to last forever, but all is
well. Not even any broken dishes, glasses or anything other then a few boxes fallen over.
PS I own a dairy farm so lots of "cow tipping" going on...LOL

Felt a slight 'rumble' at my house here in North County San Diego, plus some cracking noices up in the rafters for a few seconds, that's about it. My
two dogs had a funny look on their faces. Chino is exactly 96 miles due North of our place.

I was in San Diego and did not feel it. My employees called from Whittier to tell me that my warehouse has a big crack in the back wall. Will check it
out later in the week.
