dc-3

A little off the subject matter, but I flew out of Rancho Buena Vista back to La Paz on a DC-3 when they use to have the runway going downhill to the sea on the riverbed. I wonder if this was Ed Tabor's plane. Those things could land anywhere.

DC3/Hotel Cabo San Lucas

Remember the DC-3 that flew out of "The Hotel" dirt strip?
The strip had a big dip in the middle and then the generally overloaded 3 went straight off the cliff and dropped down to the sea for some airspeed before climbing out and heading for La Paz.
25 years ago, seems like yesterday.... I even remember the unshaven guy that unlocked the plane, stumbled around the aisle collecting tickets, then opened the c-ckpit and flew the plane.... WOW!!!
Great memories...
The lucky fliers were the ones that were forewarned about the dip and the dropoff, all others got to experience it "up close and personal"
