losfrailes if you don't like the post or the poster then don't open and read it. some of us like to know what is going on In our Land, if you will
notice that these Baja News posts get opened more than the ones like my hubby in the thong is building a new dog house.
I think your post is just another troll anyway I should not have bit

Perhaps the seasoned/ established Nomads need to pay attention to who is being negative or nasty... You will notice anyone with less than 100 posts
who has negative things to say, may have motives other than to inform.
Don't let Newbies or Junior Nomads spoil the forum for you... Until someone has contributed PERSONAL Baja stories, I personally don't think they
should be taken too seriously. Anyone can come here and say almost anything...
As a point of reference, what qualifies someone from posting something negative... specially if they have NEVER posted anything positive here?
The exception would be someone who personally experienced the bad news and shares it with us, first hand... and continues to contribute to Nomad good
along with bad news.

As some may have noticed I just returned from a... "vacation" from the board.
I had some time to be thoughtful on this issue and others.
Most of us come to the board because we are interested in and love Baja. We like to hear stories and share interests with other like minded people.
But most of us are adults on here and it is important to know what is happening in Baja if you plan to travel there. Both the good and yes even the
bad.
I wish there were no crime or bad news in Baja. But that just is not reality. Being informed is being safe and allows us to take the necessary
precautions to come home and make a happy trip report.
That's what we are all after isn't it? I know I am.
So it's okay to post news stories but try to keep them balanced. Please don't continue to paint Baja with a negative brush. If you can, try to be
informative but not bitter from some bad experience you have had there. I'm sure we have all had atleast one bad day there.
Baja is still a very good place. With some very good and beautiful people. But even good places have some bad things. That is life. It's always been
that way and always will.
But by using this board to network together we can probably still enjoy Baja and avoid any problems.
So lets try to be nice to each other and each do our part to help keep Baja a beautiful place.
Viva Baja!!!

the point is here that there are lots of deferent folks that use and enjoy this forum so some times we need to not be critical of a post that is
something the we personally are not interested in because maybe someone else is. sometimes you might even see a misspelled word but it isn't the end
of the world and maybe it will even make you feel a little better that you can spell better than some.

Odd. I find judgemental comments like los Frailes to be the offensive, negative and discriminatory comments. I think an argument can more easily be
made that the ol timers are the most abusive and negative posters and the informed inciteful newbies with their open minded questions and comments are
far more in the line of what BajaNomads is about.
Who in their right mind would want to control what people post which is factual and relevant and extremely valuable to people who need to know what is
going on and how to navigate Baja.
Its quite outrageous that a handful of posters who flood this board attempt to control the rest of the simply interested passionate and inquisitive
posters.
If you don't like it, don't read it. Not that difficult to figure out. Or I suppose you are same person who wants to control newspapers, movies and
radio and TV to only show your chosen message.
Go ahead keep it up but know that many, many of us disagree with you and the suggestion the only your messages belong here and not the messages from
people of diverse backgrounds and interest.
On the other hand I really do respect your desire to tune out, so please if you get the urge, just tune out and enjoy the things you do enjoy and
focus on those and not on others concerns. But do not oppress us with your mindset.

Apologies for using your quote out of context, Gnukid, but that 's exactly how I'd characterize the posters mentioned above. |
Interesting...does seem like posts are taken out of context in contrast to the direct insults and attacks of a few 'ol timers.
There is a clear dichotomy between these two factions, however the informed newbies rarely make ad hominem personal attacks while the tradtionalists
do? Are curmudgeons entitled to snipes at the newbies? How is that you can stand by the insults and attacks by the same group that objects to open
discourse? It's outrageous.
The support you give to slander from seniors is hypocritical as an argument against factual discourse. Quite odd that you can justify such hyperbole.
To me its quite obvious people are discouraged by the divisive posts often by the "high number posters" and "ol time members".
Now that we are clear in our divisive points of view, can we coexist?
Not sure if this has been suggested but certainly if ids are requested so might proof of age and require the over 65 to separate from the under 65,
and add subdivisions for north and south. Argh.
Its time to call a spade a spade. You 'ol timers need to learn to respect your juniors.

--Larry |
All of the "bad news" and bad mouthing of everything Mexico and Mexican has almost become entertaining, IMHO because it is interesting to see who
keeps emerging over and over---same writing style.
I got sucked in by a couple until I quit feeding the trolls---not always easy to ignore, but can be done. How can someone really determine what is OK
bad news and what is not OK bad news.
Curious Larry, do you believe that disagreeing with someone is a personal attack?
There are some old time posters who like to post their "opinions" as fact and or as speaking for everyone on this board. And they think they are
being attacked everytime someone disagrees with them be it over a person, a restuarant, or just about anything. They also tend to post with "WE" like
everyone is in agreement.
Then there are those little political jabs dropped into threads---guess they can be ignored, but not easy.
Just thinking out loud, but I doubt there can ever be a forum that is truely all Peace, Love and Fish Tacos. Too many people love and use Baja in
different ways---the ways some use Baja annoys others.
Also, some of us have been criticized by others for things like threads about our dogs, but some of us love those threads. Again, don't have to read
them.
So, how do you define a personal attack? Some, of course are easy like calling someone an idiot or worse, but is saying hey, that restaurant you like
we really dislike for the following reasons a personal attack? Or is asking someone not to speak for everyone a personal attack?
Just wondering.

And maybe we're in need of a section for animated stuff, so some posters can post their hearts out without the rest of us having to suffer through
it.
Just a thought, don't take it personal.
