farmers market/swap meet in la mision
i am new to the area and would like to know where the farmers market/swap meet is on saturdays and the time it is held.

Welcome to Baja!
I haven't been to La Mision/Ensenada for over a year.
But, there is a regular, very large and long-established swapmeet/farmer's market in Ensenada on Calle Novena every weekend.
I have heard and posted here about an organic vineyard in the Guadulupe Valle that has a farmer's market on Thursdays (of course, you have to arrive
early for the best selections). You may want to search the board for past discussions.
There was an organic farm in the La Mision valley bottomland run by a friend, Ignacio del Rio, but we haven't heard from him for some time (rumors of
family troubles).
I'm sure the other Nomads who are more clued into your area will contribute more information.

Yes, There is a Regular Weekend Market
In Primo Tapia/Cantamar.
It is a "tianguis", not an "Organic Farmer's Market".
The focus is on serving the locals who buy one roll of toilet paper or one or two disposable diapers at a time, cheap Chinese sneakers and CD ripoffs.
This is not saying that this is not a great place to visit and shop, but, the reality is that a great deal of the produce comes out of boxes shipped
from U.S. producers, because the sellers go to Costco and all the other major shippers.
If you are looking for artisanal, organic produce, I still recommend exploring the vineyards/farms in the Guadalupe Valle - it's nearer to you.
In Cantamar, next to the Palms Restaurant, the Jenna Jones Art Gallery advertises that it sells organic produce along with creative sandwiches/meals.
I can't comment because I have never visited it, that they have very beautiful ads in the local english language newspapers.

are u saying that it is close to la mision? i do not know where guadalupe valley is? how far is it from there. i am brand new to the area.

Primo Tapia/Cantamar
The turnoff for Cantamar (the location for the first Pemex gasoline station north of Ensenada) is just about ten miles north of the turnoff for La
Fonda.
Be very careful of the Cantamar exit - take it slow because the offramp is a very short and tight corkscrew that has brought serious harm to people.

Below is some info on the Organic Market in the Valle de Guadalupe --
Diana, the Valle de Guadalupe is also know as "the wine country" or "ruta del vino), just east of Ensenada.
Note - this info is from a combination of different posts on our local message board so this may seem a bit confusing...
"Wow! I really must have everyone's attention, because everyone wants to know where the Organic Produce Ranch is!!! It is Number 8 on the wine country
map, at 86.5 KM before Laja's restaurant. You need to be there on Wednesday mornings before 11:00 and it is sooooo worth the drive.
Natalia has fresh range chickens, eggs, produce of all kinds and there is always someone there selling artisan breads. Bring brown paper bags , egg
boxes or string bags. Usually there are nice baskets to collect items."

when i go to the farmers market, can i buy eggs to bring back to the states? also, what can i NOT bring back? don't want to get those wonderful
veggies if i have to leave them at the border.
