Register your out of US travel or residency
This is not a new thing, however many US citizens are unaware of the ability to register travel plans and residency plans along with stateside
contact information.
You can also , at this US State Dept website, sign up for e-mail travel alerts.

The website says it will assist you but there have been many reports even here on BN of NOT being helped by the U.S. govt. when you run into a
situation, like the death of someone in your party for instance.
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

I am very sorry to say it but I would not trust an agency of the US government outside of the military with five cents or ten minutes of my time.
Their agenda has become to preserve their bureaucratic jobs and paychecks and not to serve citizens. The government has become "of the government,
for the government and by the government."
If you think about it there are 545 people personally and completely responsible for EVERYTHING that the government does....that is 435
congressthings, 100 senatorholes, 9 supreme court justices, so called and one president = 545. Those 545 people obviously are serving only themselves
or we would not be in the pickles we are with energy, economy, leadership, bureaucracy and etc. etc. etc.
We could do ourselves a whole bunch of good if we replaced every one of them on election day and then got rid of about 90% of the non military
bureaucracy.

har,, har! the DOD is the largest bureaucracy in our government.
personally, I trust some of the federal science agencies much more than I trust the State Dept or any DOD branch. For instance, the National Weather
Service andf USGS put out some quite fine products; and the National Park Service and Forest service do a pretty good job of managing public lands,
considering all of the boneheaded citizens constantly trying to take advantage of public lands (BLM gets a failing grade from me). And while NASA's
budget is bloated, they do some really cool stuff. And the NSF and NHS do some pretty cool work. FAA does a pretty good job of managing all those
airplane thingy with only rare collisions. Come to think about it, my tax dollars produce some pretty good and useful stuff.
Now if we could get rid of homeland security airport marooons, DOD and those occasional republican administrations, then world would be pretty hunky
dory

The benefit to registration is to bolster claims of residency, and possibly your contact info on both sides of the border. It would be available to
those who wanted to know after the fact. US will not help you, quite the opposite, they have no requirement, ability, nor desire to assist you to live
out of the country. Fact is the USA is interested in your tax dollars, and the data can be used to know more about your whereabouts to seek out tax
dollars. Period.
Take the info you would have given them and give it to a trusted friend(s) who you check in with regularly.

" You put your trust in the US Military ....." Cabo Ron--The U.S. Military is all that is keeping you safe from the like of Bin Laden. That thin red
line is what has made America free. You also must be a Demo. as you called all Republicans marooons. Perhaps it would benefit you to look inward to
find the real marooon. You hit my hot button when you dissed the military. These fine young men and women are the best of our youth and put their
lives on the line for people like you.
If there is no fishing in heaven, I am not going

Go and get yourself a dictionary ... the term I used was oxymarooon.
Oxymarooon is a type of paradox.
And you just proved my point.

You anti-military types all sing the same song...and usually you have never been in a situation where the military saved your bacon, but you sure
don't mind living off the fat!
Any of you who have served....THANK YOU!!!!!!

There's a very serious lack of leadership at all levels in the USA.
