crossing the border

i'm coming to Mexico in a day or two. wondering what is the best time of day to return to the states when there won't be such a long wait line. how early, or what time before dark?

thanks, diana

Hello Diana,

Good talking to you earlier this week. I have found that the mid to late afternoon is generally a good time to come back to the states, except on Sundays.

Aside from midnight, I've had fast border crossings consistently between 17:30-19:00 weekdays. Everyone's busy eating?

WE crossed alot the past week. There is a "window of opportunity" in the morning from about 8:30-10:o0 when the wait is only an hour. From then until about 6pm it runs two hours (although some afternoons the line is long well after 6pm). Sunday mornings are OK. Sunday afternoons are the worst.

I have a nephew visitng this weekend and will just drop him off at he pedestrian crossing sunday afternoon. He can take the San Ysidro trolley to the Downtown Amtrak to get up to LA. The time it woud take us to cross together by car on a sunday- he could have been all the way to LA already.
