Campfires will burn out if you don't keep stoking 'em. It doesn't take long to use
up all the close-by wood. After a while it gets to be too much work. In the end you get a pile of ashes. This flood, the 2nd. within 3 yrs., has
stressed a lot of folks out. I'd be big-time stressed!

Sharksbaja, Was raised down on the bayou along the MS gulf coast, been thru more than a few full blown hurricanes, all of 'em from the '50's thru the
'80's. My family's preparing for "Gustav" as I type this. The storm surge from Katrina reached their doorsteps. Mississippi was hit dead on by
Katrina. The New Orleans disaster was the result of a levee failure, a lack of leadership, and stupidity. You can't fix stupid. You can fix poor
leadership. They re-elected the same worthless mayor.

This is the 3rd flood in 5 years. Sooner or later ,some of those in Mulege are going to figure it out.
Do not rebuild in a flood zone.
I would not bet against another one this season.
The advice I am about to give you is worth what you are paying for it.

Corky, hang on to your shark fin... but this is a public message board that appeals to all kinds of Baja lovers out there... In NO WAY does my putting
up a photo of Tom and Patti's book PREVENT anyone from adding more storm details OR asking storm questions.
I have had many a threads start out on one subject (like my HID lights for example) and other topics get added (like onboard air compressors). Do I
complain, does it stop me or anyone from asking more about HID lights?: NO! Open up you thinking, it is not a finite piece of the pie... it is a wide
open sky...
The subject of this thread is still: "Tropical Depression 11E-Now TS Julio" and other than a photo of the book cover (to help people relate who Tom
and Patti are if they weren't sure of their full names), I posted up dates on THAT very same storm system. That was still on subject... Your complaint
and now my response is not... plus others who find your insults to me just as strange.
Perhaps you just ate a bad clam... I don't know what else would have you snap... Try and have a better day and I hope it doesn't rain on your next
trip or flood you Mulege casa.

Corky....Baja (Mulege) is not the only place in the world that expieriences floods,ocassional hurricane activity, and high water and even flash
floods...... In my past travels to alot of semi remote and remote water wonderlands on this planet of ours, I have noticed that, for as long as
time,indigeneous people have always built their houses elevated from the flodding events. Is that a possibility for you? Sorry about your misshap.

About constructing houses elevated from flooding events, it's doable, so is a 10' levee along the river. The levee would block the view of the river
and houses built on pilings? Jeez, that'd take all the fun out of floods.

I think the turtles may have first been posted by ELENVEST18, however, I can't be sure. Whenever I see a cool graphic or gif annimation I usually
capture it and keep it in my documents .... then it migrates to photobucket so that it can be used here.

Just right click on any of those gif files and send them to a file in your documents .... I named a file animation and that's where they all live.
