A Promotion for a Friend In Bahia Asuncion

OK, yes this is a commercial for a good friend here in BA, Jesus Manuel. He has worked hard for a long time to be able to build and open his store.

Like most stores upon opening, he does not have a huge selection of items---that will come later. We took lots of pictures for him so he can compare it later. Oh, he has Tecate, and not Pacifico.

This is the store and Jesus Manuel, the proud owner. He is very difficult to see in the first picture---as I so often do, I took the pictures at the wrong time of the day.

It is located on the main street toward the far end of town---near the high school. Jesus Manuel speaks English quite well and is very willing to assist with tourist and town information.

We hope when you are here, you will stop by, buy a couple of items and chat with him. He is there most of the time.

Just a small picture of something in the store that caught my eye.

I wish him well.
One of the things that we love about Asuncion is shopping at each of the 10 or so mercados and mini and minier mercados in town.
One with better leeks, one with a tortilleria, one with better chicken, one with the best queso fresco, one with frozen shrimp and only one with Negro Modelo that some local gringos always seem to buy before we get there !
We NEED more stores !!:lol::lol:

We really enjoyed visiting with Jesus and send him our best wishes. We will most definately be stopping by his store for a case or two. Jim and Lauri

Now, now. I must ask Jesus if he is a Yankee's fan. It may just be that he had that banner and put it up on a very bare wall.

Lauriboats, Jesus had the drive way cut out so it is real easy to drive in and out on the way to your place.

Cigars, umm---might suggest that except I am afraid John will start smoking them again!

We had high hopes for this store that it would carry something special or different...maybe later! It IS the closest tecate store to our place and we wish him well....but the tecate store 2 blocks down has ice cold tecate...worth going the extra blocks unless you are in a REAL hurry to down a "cherry soda"!!!

Who is WE? He is getting business. The beer certainly seemed cold enough to us but maybe we can suggest he lowers the temperature a bit.

What special item did you expect? Yes, he has plans for several things in the future, but he is just starting. Tell us what "special" item you would like and we will pass on the information. We are sure he is not opposed to constructive criticism.

We like the idea of supporting someone who has worked as many years as he has and as hard as he has to try and reach a goal. With enough support, perhaps there will more "special" items in the future.

Also, his knowledge and information about the town and this area is always interesting.

nothing in particular....just that the rumors were, before he built, that it would be a supermarket type place with good meat section etc...and I thought he might bring in more stuff from the states as he has connections there....I'm sure things will get better stocked as time goes on...yes they are very nice people and we wish them all the success in the world. Cold beer is very important!!!! to some people.

No worries on the Yankee banner. At least he is a fan of beisbol.

AND, at least it wasn't a Red Sux banner.......................:tumble:
