Photos of Gecko Flood
http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii64/santiago407/Gecko%20...
Just got back a few hours ago and here's a link to the photos of the flash flood in Gecko that occured on Saturday. I was alone in the camp and ran
around in a thunder storm taking pictures.
This will only be of interest to those in Gecko. The road from BOLA town south is passable as of yesterday with a couple of washouts but work-arounds
were in place. Big boats might want to launch in town and stay on the hook while in camp. No real damage to any unit unit but Doc and Beach Bob both
saw water where they hadn't before.
Fuller report when I recover from the San Quintin/Sacto drive.

Thanks Jim... Glad you are okay...
I haven't been to Gecko since '05 when Doc ended the camping and cabin feature there... So, I don't recognize the place anymore!
Do you know if fellow Nomads (4baja, Bedman, Debra, FrankO/Soulpatch, AhaBaja, etc.) who have places there have anything to be concerned about?
Thanks again and have a safe drive to the Delta!

Thanks for the photos Jim. We're never there when exciting stuff happens! It looks like someone has a leaning tower of bahia in his front yard...
Dern wants to know if you still have the palm fronds that you wanted to get rid of? Anyway, if you still have them and they haven't washed way and you
still want to be rid of them, he's willing to take them off of your hands. Let me know. He's leaving this Friday, the 5th.
He was also wondering what the name of the roofing material was that you used. (I'm too lazy to do a search). So I'd love it if you'd help me out
there too.
Thanks again for the photos.

Exactly... water has a much harder time flowing uphill or pooling higher than the surrounding terrain!

You guys might also find yourselves digging new septic tanks too. They may be filled with the other brown stuff after having that amount of water
flowing by. I'm sure we will be in that same boat as well.

ps. Thanks for the u2u Jim.

Wow, that's freaky Jim....love your place and look forward to assisting you in your wine consumption on your patio some day. Gee...I'm glad you were
there to witness this little flood...so it looks like this could be a problem if there was a serious rain????

Good one Martyman. I'm not sure how your house is set up, if you've changed
anything since my mom had it before you, but a lot of the old school systems are nothing more than a hole in the ground lined with rocks or
cinderblock, with a cement top. When we get the big rains the septics tend to fill up with the run off.
It doesn't matter for part timers, but for frequent visitors or fulltimers, it will matter when you're having to pay to have a new one dug.
Cheers, and keep an eye on your shower drain as well as the one out your back door....

Thanks Jim.
I forwarded the album to my in-laws. They have a "river runs through it" at their place north of you.
They are up here now. The yard is probably rearranged a bit.
