These sales will not go through our website. The main reason is that Paypal is set up for shipping to be based on the amount of the purchase without regard to the weight(there is nothing we can do to change this!!). So we would like to offer the Nomads a special of $5 shipping for any of the maps. Checks will have to be sent to us directly. I will be in contact with each of you, who have expressed interest, through U2U as to where to send the checks and when to expect the maps.
As of 11am turkey day, we have not received these maps in Mexico.

The maps from BajaJudy's company arrived yesterday (12-5-08)...

They are huge... Big and beautiful!!

Each folding map has half of the area on each side... ie. Baja North has half of Baja Norte on one side (to just below San Quintin/ Puertecitos), and the other half on the other side (to Scammon's Lagoon)... topography is shown by contour lines and shading... VERY NICE!

The maps are waterproof and tear-resistant... City maps are on them as well. Shell Island is shown as an island... talk about detail!!!

ERRORS? YES, as all maps do have them... These maps use Mexican Governmant topos for much information (as does the Baja Almanac) and the mistakes made by Mexican cartographers is also on these maps.... BUT, they are not so many that it should discourage you from ordering them!

A few errors I saw, so far:

Blvd. 2000 jcn. with Hwy .1, too far north.

Mision San Pedro Martir shown at San Telmo near Hwy. 1, and not up at 5,000+ feet where it is.

Rancho San Antonio (east of El Rosario) listed as having a church, library and town square!

A bit of the main Valle Chico road to Matomi is missing (from El Carrizo east).

El Marmol and the road to El Marmol is missing!

The hiking trail south and west from Mision Santa Maria to Hwy. 1 near San Ignacito is shown as an auto road!

Mision San Borja is shown a bit too far south and not at the 'town/ ranch' of San Borja, where it is.

The road from Guillermo Prieto north to the San Francisquito/ El Arco road is not shown.
===================================================
On the Baja South map:

The mule trail between San Francisco de la Sierra and Santa Marta is shown as an auto road.

The road to Bahia Tortugas is shown as all paved.

The road to Punta Abreojos is shown as all dirt.

The mission site of 'La Pasion' is shown a few miles off (it is just east of La Presa).

A road is shown going to Dolores.

No mission site is shown for Santiago.

=================================================

Again, compared with the size and quality of these new maps, the above errors are not that big a deal...

Enjoy them!

Got mine yesterday as well. Really nice maps. Lots of detail. I really like the tear-proof water-proof material! These maps will get a lot of use.

Thanks Judy!
