It is very early to see a gray whale, but these early arrivals are usually animals that did not migrate all the way north but just stayed off the coast of the USA during the winter. Sometimes weak or sick animals dont make the migration and these guys make their way south sooner.

Read it---early and explanation why. As I posted earlier, we were in BA at the time and saw a FEW whales pass by.

Maybe, just maybe the newspaper knows more about something than you do, or is this one of those things that if a NOmad didn't see it, it didn't happen???

Once again, you want to make sure EVERYONE knows, and knows, and knows your politics---oh, I know, since there are some very new nomads, maybe they didn't know-----I am sure they will read about it over, and over.:rolleyes:

Judy, as I said earlier, great post and very worthwhile information to share.

Thanks
Diane

So, I am at a loss here... are there gray whales off Baja as Nomads have seen... Or, because a newspaper says no, they are not???

Nomad personal report= Trust their eyes

Newspaper story read by Nomad= Hear-say story (ie. I trust a Nomads news over a paper's news)

Of course that's just the silly way I see things!

Boy that settles it---a few whales seen by nomads, so yes, that newspaper had to be a part of the worldwide conspiracy to report false stories---all with a polictical agenda. Yep, that settles it.

BTW, it might be a good idea if you actually read the article before you decide it is "hear-say"and false.

and ANOTHER thing, David....

.....the paper was reporting the observations of PROFEPA, the agency responsible for tracking the whale migrations, so if anything, your beef should be with them if you disagree, instead of your knee-jerk reaction about "the media". Secondly, nowhere in the article was there any reference to "man-made" global warming. And thirdly, when did you become a climate scientist? When you get your degree, you can come back and pontificate, otherwise, YOUR 'facts' are nothing more than opinions, or should I say, regurgitations.

Just a misunderstanding...

you can't trust those arrogant giants who think too highly of themselves to arrive at an appointment on time. Even the prehorseradish tree authorities know that.

Gustavo Alonso Alvarez La Paz, South Baja California. - Officially 15 of December yesterday initiated the season of sighting of gray whale in the coasts of the Pacific of South Baja California, but the whales have in fact not arrived at the complexes lagunares. The federal authorities prehorseradish tree that will be in the middle of January when they are arriving the giants that are conceited come behind schedule to their appointment by the high temperature that still has waters of this region, an effect more of the climatic change. The delegate of the Federal Office of the judge advocate general of Protection to Ambiente (PROFEPA), Maritza Muñoz Vargas, confirmed that the sanctuaries are empty, only is a registry of sighting of a whale " piloto" , the one that sends first a to recognize the route mainly and, to measure the temperature of the water. Already there were advance the meteorologists who in this part of the country the winter would be warm, and he is it as much that the temperature of the Pacific continues being unsuitable for the arrival of the gray whale, that every year travels from waters of the north of the American Union to reproduce in BCS, sites like Eye of Hare, Lopez Mateos and San Carlos. The past year the presence of gray whale in BCS was much smaller to other years, and migrated much more to the south, even until the state of Jalisco, this year the delegate comments that there are no indications that the phenomenon is repeated, or that lowers plus the presence of the whale. " The certain thing is that the climate in BCS for the dates in which we are is hot and that can be the cause, like part of all this problem of the change climático" , Muñoz commented Vargas. While they wait the arrival of the whales, the delegate explained that already advanced training courses for the good handling of the whale sighting were realised in Port San Carlos and Lopez Mateos with the support of Group Islands and the SEMARNAT; " We are looking for that the lenders on watch take brings back to consciousness so that they offer a better service in this season, consist of doing dynamic and practical where it is possible to be established the mechanisms and padlocks for a better service, to regulate the use of life jackets, the number of passengers in the boat and the respect to maintain a prudent distance to animal" , he commented. The PROFEPA will maintain the monitoring of the sanctuaries of the gray whale to give pursuit to this season of sighting, that of entrance seemed that she will be atypical again.

Sounds like the way it was mentioned here (thanks Judy)... It is the report that I 'reacated' to! I never said 'worldwide conspiracy', or anything other than what I said: "It could be global warming hysteria by the media... ? Seems to me that Shari already posted she saw them." It COULD be... (my opinion, okay) and I didn't say 'man-made', either... you people!:light:

In fact, whales are off Baja... so the report is misleading (false?) and the paper should have checked on the facts before getting all the greenies upset... Please have their editor read Baja Nomad before the next whale story is printed!:D;D:lol:

Now, please laugh a little bit people... it is Christmas time!

Thanks Camote for the translation... those are fun to figure out!
