NO RED TRUCKS
OK, it is not just that Diver's sick truck is red, but red trucks meant that it took us 1 hour to cross the border into Mexico.
Gees, it is about 6 miles from our home in IB to the border---so off we took at about 1pm so we could get to San Quintin before, or shortly after
dark.
It took us as long to cross the border as it took us to get from Tijuana to the outskirts of Ensenada!
Don't know what was going on, but there were lots of Highway Patrol, and lots of ATF officers and they were pulling out of line and searching red
pick-up trucks. 
Glad our Tundra is not RED !

Hmm.. that is interesting. It is a good thing you were not in a red truck.
I was on an long distance overnight bus once and we got stopped at every checkpoint and thoroughly searched each time.
It is hard to sleep when you are getting rousted by the PDJ every 45 minutes as they waved the other buses by. I used to take overnight buses to
"save on hotel costs" I think this was the last time I did that. 
Oh well.. its good to see them doing their jobs. I figured they either had a tip about someone on our bus, or the bus line I was riding on.

All the activity was on the US side, so those red trucks are all suspect.
Mango, the first time I was on a bus on the mainland when it was stopped by the PDJ, I understood less Spanish then now. Female officer approached
our seats, said something, and proceeded to frisk my upper body.
The look on my face gave the rest of the bus quite a good laugh.
I do wonder if all that activity will make the San Diego news.

Maybe it was an Amber Alert and they were in a red truck.

Yea, had to be a tip of some kind. We suspected guns or drugs because of the large presense of the ATF---hope they found what they were looking for.

Really happy you came upon Diver and family when you did and were able to pull his rig up the hill to a turn-out.
Mrs. Diver said it was just an awful, awful feeling when the truck just died and they were stuck in the middle of the curvy road. It is a feeling I
hope to never experience.

I happened to be coming the other way pulling a flat bed trailer while Diver and TW were in the road. It was not in a good place what so ever.
