So when are you going to get to the part where he broke the law?

No. He's doing exactly what he should be doing, grieving and lamenting and dying a slow death of his own because his life died when his wife did.
On the other hand, he could get on with what's left of his own life and try to enjoy something.
Nothing like this has ever happened to me so I'm not really sure how I would react. Doesn't sound like fun...that's for sure.

Santiago isn't one of "you DWI guys" he is a very considerate and thoughtful neighbor to whom I've never even seen tipsy in 8yrs.

Personally, I rarely drink beer, but, everytime I pull into Bahia I buy one Pacifico at Xitllali for the 4 1/2mile ride home. Does that make me a DWI gal?

I don't think a couple of beers for the 45 mile drive home is anything that anyone in the same traffic pattern would be concerned about.

I'm really sorry about your friend, but, don't paint with that wide of brush please.

Judgements being made

1. Does not declare every last bit of income each year. -Arrogant

2. Opens first beer of the trip at the first turnout east of Hiway 1 on the 45 mile road to BOLA. -Arrogant

3. Generally has to pee at this point so goes on the side of the road (e pluribus unum). -Arrogant

4. Repeats 2 and 3 on 4th turnout. -Arrogant

5. Drives over 80KPH on the wide open spaces with the yellow line up his arse. -Arrogant

6. Drives truck with boat attached over the beach to launch. -Arrogant

7. Drinks beer out of a paper cup at taco stand in town (paper cup is at the request of the taco lady but he still thinks it's illegal). -Arrogant

8. Will occasionally not declare stuff in truck or boat crossing the border, both ways. Last trip answered "No" to the question, "Any plant material?" with cactus parts strewn all over the dash  -Arrogant

9. Will pull boat up to deserted beach and get a dozen clams or so. -Arrogant

10. Once attempted a spot of whoopie on said beach but learned that K-Y and sand just don't mix.:( Still, he's sure the attempt was illegal. -Arrogant

11. Often trolls with 2 rods out while by himself. This is a little sticky as he does always carry his buddy's annual fishing license - you know, 1 rod per license but probably illegal. -Arrogant

12. Does construction on small cabin without permits. Of any kind. At all. Notices that no one else does either. -Arrogant
13. Has gotten pretty lackadaisical about coming to a complete stop at stops signs after getting rear-ended by a surprised and somewhat nonplussed Mexican who expressed wonder as to why anyone would actually even slow down at this particular intersection. -Arrogant

14. Noticed the warm smell of colitas and did not rush to the nearest authority to report. -Arrogant

15. Has dug up small plants here and there in the desert and replanted them at his cabin. -Arrogant

16. Once left a dirt road and made a new dirt road as the old dirt road was just too freaking washboardy. -Arrogant

17. Collects shells and takes them back to the cabin to sit around. Takes some back to la otro lado as a memento. -Arrogant

18. Brings wine - way, way more than 3 liters, lots of meat, computers and computer parts, clothes, baseball stuff, dog food south to leave with folks who might enjoy or use them. -Arrogant

Anyway, these are all the ways he can think of that he's broken the laws but knowing him, I'm sure there are others. He thinks you folks who pee-and-moan about these things need to get a life. -Arrogant

A few years ago I picked up my buddy in Fresno for our annual trip south and the first thing he told me was that he had prostrate cancer and was having the surgery when he got back. The whole thing turned out great but the result is we now make a lot of stops as he just can't go more than an hour or so. Not a lot of banos out there. In fact, if I recall, the law says something like 'eliminating in public view'. The obvious reason is that humans will have to go #s 1&2 without a w/c about. I bet even Oldlady has done this, and I don't say that lightly.
My point is that most of us have done some of these things and some of us have done most. So what.
Thanks Deb, but you're not very observant.........
