Serie del Caribe

Mexicali is hosting the Caribbean World Series best known as Serie del Caribe. This is a week long tournament with the four best teams playing each other for the championship. There are two games a day one at 2:00pm and one at 6:00pm. Mexico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are the teams in the championship hunt. The teams are loaded with MLB players from all the teams. Team Mexico has Adrian Gonzalez #23 first base from the San Diego Padres and his brother Edgar Gonzalez who played for the AZ Diamondbacks. It's very good baseball. Last night Mexico lost to Venezuela 1-0 in the 12th inning. I was a fun and exciting game. The best part $30 gets you 10 beers, chips, souvenirs, sunflower seeds, 2 cokes and a coffee.Pretty good considering that would only be 3 beers at Petco Park...

In addition to the good prices they have good entertainment between innings and between the pitches. Good music and an excited, high spirited crowd. Shouts of Mexico, Mexico, Mexico and si se pude, si se puede were blaring through the stands. Mexico flags were being waved and almost everyone seemed to have some sort of noise making device. Fans were yelling chevy chevy to the senoritas meaning they wanted another beer. The girls were carrying buckets of ice cold Tecate beers to your seats. It was a good Tuesday night and we are looking forward to going to the games on Friday as well.

I was very fortunante to get tickets from some friends from MXL so I didn't buy them. However I'm trying to buy some for Saturday as well. I have a couple of phone numbers that I will be trying this afternoon. I will let you know my findings. I know the tickets we had on Tuesday's games were 800 pesos. Friday's tickets the seats are a little better at 1,000 pesos. I do believe they have others in the 400 pesos range. The tickets are good for both games each day.

Ted

I went down to the stadium and purchased tickets for the games on Saturday. It shouldn't be a problem to get tickets for Friday.
