Mike, now I have to post a reply just to see how far off it is...

You can set your personalized time zone depending on your location. Go to "Your Control Panel" (upper right) and then "Edit Profile." Scroll down to
time selection area and select whatever time you want.

The generic time displayed - if you're not signed in - is Greenwich Mean Time (GMT), also known as Zulu (Z) or Coordinated Universal
Time (UTC).
This is the "World" Wide Web, and that is standard world time.
If you create a user account, you can coordinate your time zone in relation to GMT through your user control panel.
Pacific Standard Time (PST) is GMT -8 hours, and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) is GMT -7 hours.

If you want to sync your local machine to the government's ("atomic") clock over the web, you can use this software for the Windows platform:
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/ats.htm
You'll need to change the default timeserver to another one, of which I recommend: time.nist.gov

Always been afraid to ask
Since my kids think my computer savvy is borderline marooon... I have been scared to ask, almost wrote the same query yesterday.
Well, my dad used to have an heirloom clock on the mantle at home, gorgeous thing, never ran a tick.
He used to say, "It is right twice a day, and that is better than most of us can claim."
(and only 61 minutes is pretty close for me when it comes to modern telemetry)
