Amber Dubois - missing teen from Escondido

This seems incredible to me considering the discussions we're having on missing people, and the # of current threads going on such...

But - no joke - the step-father to missing teen Amber Dubois (from Escondido) is a close personal family friend. She's been missing for 6 days - since last Friday morning.

The Escondido Police have apparently done all they can do without further leads, and the family has asked me if I would assist in getting some visibility with this to Nomads in Baja California.

The family has setup a website at:
http://www.amberleeannedubois.com

Here's a recent article:
http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2009/02/18/news/inland/escon...

Photos of Amber:

Any help in getting further visibility with this would be appreciated.

Regards,
-

As a father of a teenage daughter, I can imagine it is the parents who would like as many eyes looking for her as possible, and it was them not the local law who probably asked Doug to help...

Escondido is in San Diego County ie. borders Baja... and Baja is a popular place to go... for fun, or to get away from the law, or to take girls... So it makes perfect sense to have the #1 Baja Internet forum members get alerted. The local news has been broadcasting for Amber daily.

I sure pray she shows up, unharmed... Hopefully, she just got a streak of independence and went somewhere with friends... rebelling, perhaps?

I asked him if there was any specific hint that there was a Baja-connection, and from what he told me (and what I've read) the Police are out of leads, and the family has now hired a Private Investigator who has advised them to get more visibility outside the county, including Mexico - which is when he thought of contacting me to assist in that regard.

Thanks for your understanding - and for any assistance with this.

So sorry to hear this. I too had a close family member that went missing in Rosarito Beach several years ago. The local police were contacted immediately, and she was returned unharmed within 24 hours. Huge hangover, but unharmed....

I saw a good sized story in todays Union Tribune about Amber- so the word is getting out. The story was very positive about her being a good responsible kid.

We'll keep an eye out around here for her too.

Noting that she is a good responsible kid makes the situation more disturbing to me. Really hope she is OK.

And now... in Spanish also:

Any help in getting these posted at: PEMEX stations, ATM's, Toll Road booths, police stations and army checkpoints would be appreciated considerably.

Thanks,

Huge national coverage of the search for Amber because of the Escondido based Tour de California bike race. The word and her photos are out there. Every mention of her tells listeners how good a person she is.

Doug,

My heart goes out to this family. My daughter is only two months younger than Amber. I can only imagine how devistated they are with each passing day. Please pass on the word that we are all thinking of them and hoping for her safe return.

"No matter what happened to Amber, Maurice DuBois said he just wants her home. He's concerned she may have been taken to Mexico..."

Bumping ..

Anyone who has ever experienced a loved one going missing/abducted knows the helplessness - and myriad of other feelings - the Dubois family is going thru ..

Anything that can be done to find Amber is necessary .. post the flyer on/in locations that can potentially lead to finding Amber ..

Our thoughts, prayers and support are given in abundance.

I am as concerned as anyone for the safety of Amber. I do wish to point out an inconsistency in the stories I've read. It's about the investigator Garcia. Unless he's being wrongly quoted, to me it does not makes sense that in the same breath Garcia can say that he believes Amber was abducted, and then state that he thinks her friends know more than they are letting on. These would seem to be more of an either-or situation.

Amber Dubois

This is so heart-breaking. I hope she's found alive, soon.

My daughter, Angelie, will be 14 May 25th and I couldn't stand life without her.
