I got a call...

I mentioned to my instructor that I would probably not go on my flight next weekend due to lack of passengers.
So he called me today to find out. They want me to take myself off the schedule if I'm not going.
So I told him I would call tomorrow and make a decision.
Here is a review.
I have a plane parked at Brown Field in San Diego. I have a plan to fly to Guerrero Negro to go whale watching with friends. There will also be a birthday party (guess who?).
I can leave Friday and come back Monday. Or I can shorten the trip by a day at either end. In fact it is possible to leave Sat and come back Sun if the weather is right and all the stars align properly.
I need at least one person to pitch in about $200-300 to help me cover the expense of the plane. I can take 3 people.
So I can wait one more day and then will have to cancel if I don't get someone to go.
It will be fun and a very quick ride down there. My plane is about as cheap as a private flight can get. So if you ever wanted to try it here is your chance.

Ya, that would be great to fly the biplane there!
Ya, we can go to Cedros. One of the other Baja pilots takes the plane there.

Okay, it's not looking good for the trip.
No problem. I'm still getting dialed in. So I'm planning on flying down several times this year. Mostly for fishing and beach time.
But I will keep the plane for Tuesday. As far as I know no one else wants to fly it yet. So it may still be available next weekend.
I'm the only one who has flown it in the last couple of weeks.
The weather looks fantastic for next weekend in Guerrero Negro. 80-85 and partly sunny.
I would love to fly down anyway. But I just can spend that much money all by myself. Maybe for fishing during peak season.
So I might drive down. And I think we all know what that means!;)

Well I guess I figure if the pilot is respectable and trustworthy then his plane would be as well. You can tell so much about a person from first impressions, machinery can be decieving even if she looks as good as both of those ships do!

I have over 5 hours in this particular cherokee 6. This is my 4th cherokee that I 've used for Baja and this is a very solid plane. It starts good and runs good. It flys perfectly. It's fast too.

I just called San Diego. I asked them to leave me on the schedule as long as possible. So I still have the plane for this weekend.
So I will hold on to it as long as I can. I only need 1 person to go with me and share the cost. 2-3 is better.
The flying (and whale watching) weather looks perfect.
And ofcourse the is a certain birthday girl waiting to party with us!

Tom Sarvis owner of 1st flight at Brown is a top notch A&P and AI - anything he puts on the rental line is well maintained and legal.

he did 2 annuals for my comanche when i flew to Brown weekly for 3 plus years. He owns a 180 Comanche too , but too bad he doesn't rent it - or maybe he does now.

that 6 is nice, a pick up truck or SUV of the skies......but FAST it is NOT!!:lol::lol:

No, no Comanche for rent.
How fast is your Comanche anyway?
The "6" is relativly fast. The book says 168mph at 75% power. That's not fast?
