Personal Weather Stations, What do you have?
I would like to get a weather station for my casa and I am curious what any other nomads are using?
I would like to also have access to it via the internet remotely in order to check the weather.
Any advise is welcome

All I have is a temp/humidity combo and a barometer. But I sure like those Davis units.

I don't have this "wunderground" site, but I visit it many times a day.

How about some reviews on the many models?
http://www.eham.net/reviews/products/64
Oregon Scientific, LaCrosse and Davis dominate the under 500 bucks units.
The Davis units rate the highest.

I have a Oregon Scientific WMR968. It is mid-range in price and has functioned for a year in the La Paz climate. I'm happy with it. I use
WUHU216_32.exe to post to Weather Underground. See the bottom of the La Paz weather page (6am-9pm).

How does having a 'personal weather station' help?
Can't you just look outside or open the window?

I have an Oregon Scientific WMR968 wireless weather system. Totally bites. I've traded out hydometers, rain guages, etc--- and it always has
problems with reading from something. Go with a Davis system JMHO

Blowing in the Wind ?
You don't need a Weather-Station to tell which way the wind blows.
I think Bob Dylan said that.
Or something like it.

Why a station?
It's sunny and hot almost every day and when the bad weather comes we're gone.
The grass is always greener....
and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

If opened the door or the window to look out, I'd see my foggy front yard and wish I were in Baja.
Then I'd go to my computer and open up the Bahia weather station site and get my fix until the next time I'm missing baja, open my door and face the
fog.

Davis Vantage Pro2
We have used the Davis Vantage Pro2 for the last several years. It confirms for us that it is "Raining cats and dogs" when we have just looked out
the window and have seen it pouring! It is interesting to follow the graphs of any of the modules that you have connected.

Same could be said for the internet, I suppose.
Some people want more details, more exactness, more predictability.
I love being about to see info from PWSs in areas I am thinking about going............dont discourage their use!!

I read several forums on weather stations and there is no doubt that the Davis is reported to be more reliable that the OS. There were many reports
similar to Woooosh. I called a vendor who acknowledged that returns were higher for the OS than the Davis but they were still low overall. I decided
that for 1/2 the price of the Davis I could try the OS with a 30 day return. The only thing I've found is the outside temp reads 1 degree low, which
I adjust by software. The unit is now a year old.

Maybe that you have to get out of the cellar to get an idea what the weather's like.
