Thoughts on Baja

"Baja....Know that my hand my heart even my soul shall ever and always be near you"

Sure would like to see some others thoughts on Baja.

Thanks, Bernie. The Baja we all know here seems so much more complete when you're part of it. Good to see you back and enjoying your new life.

Where else can you have a cold Pacifico for .80 cents and look out at the Sea of Cortez? All the other good things are a bonus!

As far as the dangers that lurk in Mexico, I would feel a lot safer walking down the street in Loreto late at night rather than almost any other large city in the USA.

The stars are bright
There out to nite
Deep in the heart of Baja
If your here to stay
Come out and play
Deep in the heart of Baja
So if you want another line
Thats just fine
Deep in the heart of Baja
So grab a beer
And give a cheer
Your deep in the heat of BAJA

My son Max put it best when we were out for a walk last summer. Below us to our right, tight v-formations of pelicans slid undulating over wave tops, the ritual afternoon migration north. Above us to our left, a red-tailed hawk flickered its wings in hovering position, stalking unseen prey high on a grassy hilltop littered with agave and cholla. Ahead, a dirt road curved around and down the hillside to a lagoon and a beach populated that day only by a half dozen cows. A lizard skittered across the road in front of us. The only sounds were the crashing waves, the crunch of our footsteps, and the distant cries of seagulls. The breeze carried the scents of kelp, sage, and dust.

"Dad?"
"Hmm?"
"Do you like it here?"
"I love it."
"Me too. This is my favorite place in the whole world."

The calm of the Baja morning awakes the light of our existance and nurtures our every breath, creating a peace and rest we have never felt before but have always longed for. The color of her land and seas overwhelm our senses, her plants and animals make us rejoyce in her beauty, we are forever smitten.

Better than "good" writing. Poignant....engageingly descriptive....all in all.....wonderful to read. You should develop more your talent. It's worthy of reading and sharing.
