I'm Voting for runaway. Because that would be the the scenario that would end best. Alive and healthy. Face it. She was a child of a broken marriage, and by all that was reported was not social. Typical. Hang in there Amber.

Mother was interviewed by Rick Roberts (760 KFMB SD) yesterday morning...

Nothing new about Amber, just more details on the home life... Her bio dad is in Orange County and her mom has a 5 year old with the boyfriend who has only lived with the mom and Amber for 2 years... ?? Mom said everything was fine... Amber was anxious to be in school the day she vanished because she had a deposit check for her Ag class (?) lamb purchase and to exchange Valentine's cards.

So sad, as time goes by the hope gets dimmer. I really feel for this family. Seems like she's a good girl with a bright future.

Amber and teenagers in general

I teach at Amber's high school so I've seen and heard a lot of the Amber story. I too am hoping and praying for her safe return.

1. According to a good friend of mine on the Esc. PD, an abduction at 7:10 am on North Broadway (very busy with cars and lots of kids walking to a school of 2950) does not fit the pattern of the typical abduction. Also, the abduction of a white kid brings far more attention than a non-white (sorry to say).

2. The mom initially said her daughter was not online, but a month later the North County Times reported that her Yahoo screenname was "Wolfintheend".

3. Lot's of students interviewed by the police and that I've spoken with have suggested she is not as squeaky clean as her mother suggests (wears black, Goth, friends).

I would speculate that she ran away with a guy she met online.

My experience with teenagers ( and many adults) is that they have an incredible ability to deceive people.

I am always surprised at the type and amount of sexual activity today's teens practice (I'm not saying anything about Amber). The girls are shockingly aggressive and curious and the guys are ... just guys. The home lives of a lot of kids do not role model healthy, committed, respectful relationships.

I am a father of 3 teenage girls and I beg all of you to aggressively monitor your kids' online and texting activities. Our kids are our responsibilty and they really need involved parents that care.

No worries

I remember when my daughter was 13 & 14 & 15 & 16 etc. I didn't think I was going to survive it. But I did. and she actually grew up, and became a responsible, loving, devoted daughter, who now is a mother of two great kids. And are loved, and nurished, and being taught respect. Given great values, and a Christian upbringing. (a proud grandfather.)
Praying for Ambers 'surfacing' and being o.k.
Anxiously awaiting the, "good news"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posters

Today, someone in Puerto Nuevo handed out reward posters. Don't know who as I wasn't there at the time but I understand they were widely circulated.

Hopefully, a $60,000 reward should produce results.
