HOuse-sitter wanted for April 3-10 in Asuncion
We would like to take a little camping trip and were wondering if anyone out there in Nomadlandia might like to come and stay at our place at the
Blowhole here in Asuncion while we are gone...light duties of feeding the chickens and cats and maybe one dog. Our dates are a bit flexible but
sometime from Apr. 2-12 for 5 or 6 days...even some of those days would be great. Asuncion is pretty quiet during this week as most people go away as
it's their only week off.

I can attest that it is a good gig. I house sat there three years ago and it was a great way to get to know the town a bit. It definately was pretty
quiet! Won't be the same now that there is no horse to clean up after, hadn't shoveled that much crap since I left the farm all those years ago. I
was very proud that with a new litter of kittens and one very aged dog that had to be rescued from the beach, all the critters survived my week of
stewardship. I guess the farm boy background worked in my favor.

thanks Kurt...by the way, we DO have 3 new kitties as of yesterday...as usual...the mom is the cat that hid out when we went to the vet in
Mulege...that rascal.
I was soooo sad when Martillo went to horsey heaven...i couldnt bear to post it....it was a strange story...he had colic...I think he ate a plastic
bag while grazing behind the coop and was colicy for 3 days...worse than I'd seen him before...he hadnt had colic for a couple years. We tried
everything to no avail...when he was near death one evening, we didnt' think he would last another few hours. In the morning Juan went to deal with it
and found he was GONE!!! He couldnt even lift his head let alone walk....well we followed his trail all over town...he had gone to the dance at the
cancha...did a spin around the whole town...went to visit his buddies in the corral behind bajaboy's house...but we couldnt find him anywhere. That
was mother's day last year...we finally found him under the tree at the campground where his old stable used to be 10 years ago...he went back to his
roots I guess. Many people saw him wandering around town that night...how strange but wonderful he had his last hurrah.
Yes, the house sitting stint will be much easier without the horses.

I'd love to hang out in Acuncion for a week, maybe in a year when we get to retire, but I have to ask this question, as a long time resident of a
small baja community, and married to a member of one of the oldest family's in Baja, why do you need a house sitter? My neighbors leave their house to
go to their house in Idaho for 6 months a year, and no house sitter needed. You must be respected members of your city what gives?

during semana santa, nearly everyone goes away...even though we have lot of family and friends here, people have their own lives to live and houses to
look after. Where we live is a bit removed from the village and where there is very little crime here...you never know...semana santa is well known
for break ins as people arent home...and we have alot of fishing gear, electronics etc. and because it is not in a neighbourhood, no one would know if
someone broke in...so instead of worrying, it is nicer to have someone stay here so we can relax knowing things are fine...we are out of cell reach
when we camp....plus we have kitties and chickies that need care so it is best to have someone here...we do have people come when we are just gone a
few days but a week is too much to ask someone to do...so house sitters are the answer.
We all miss martillo ALOT.

Boy oh boy Sister, I wish I could take you up on THAT offer.
I need some Asuncion time.
I open the museum for the season in two weeks, and it has me stressing!
We had our neighbors over for dinner this evening and I took from the freezer the prized package of sashimi tuna you gave me that I've been saving for
a special occasion.
Served it searer and sliced on a layer of blended sauce made of Albacore in olive oil, anchovy paste, white wine vinegar, capers, course rich mustard,
mayo, salt and pepper.
Oh yeah, a little clam chowder and whole wheat sour dough bread on the side!
We raised a metaphoric glass to you and Juan. Thank you.

Sorry bout your horsie but I'm very glad he had a fun happy night out on the town before he went nightie-night and went to join God. It's sweet he
got to do that and that instinct made him go back to his past.

Shari, glad you found your housesitter. We are so sorry to hear about Martillo though. He was there when we camped by your house in our cabover a
couple of years ago.
