Tijuana passed a law a few years ago banning using cell phones while driving (before California did). I also received only a warning.

It's illegal in ALL of Baja Calif to use a cell phone while driving. Fine is anywhere between $25 -$75 USD.

This is a joke, but it COULD happen soon.

I can see it happening in North Dakota...although 3 farm trucks, a horse trailer, and a combine constitute our rush hour.

Also, our governor has a terrific sense of humor. He once had this highway sign erected on our ND/Montana border.

"Thinking of leaving North Dakota? Custer did."

Paying Attention

As an article in the L.A. Times described awhile back, the new ban hadn't seemed to reduce the amount of Cell Phone use while driving, BUT it had resulted in motorists paying a lot more attention to where the cops are. So, I suppose it's accomplished the objective.

In my case, I start each phone conversation with the admonition that "Don't be surprised if I drop this phone at any second if I spy a patrol car. I'll call back if that's the case".

Of course, living in the Boonies, normal traffic for me is a few other cars on the highway so it's easy to spot the Bad Guys.

I thought about emulating one character I read about who uses an elastic headband to hold his phone against his ear for Hands-Free calling.

I have to talk on the phone a lot while driving so I got a Bluetooth and I love it, in fact I use it most of the time now, however people look at me kinda funny like I'm talking to myself or something:?:
