BC:
The cheap motel, is at Ruben's camp, at the north end of town. They also offer superb food, and serve the best cocoloco in Baja.
PLUS++++it is a very secure place.

Bajacat,

Just got back from San Felipe this last weekend. Udo is half right. Ruben's is a great place to stay, but the restaurant is not open and no famous coco locos.

The camp is split into two; Ruben's and Kiki's (his nephew I believe). Kiki's has the open-air cabanas and a newer hotel with maybe 16 rooms. That's where we stayed. Rooms are $65 a night for two beds and clean. Secure parking and a great beach.

Ruben's appears a little run down and when we went to check out the restaurants and outdoor bar for coco locos, it was closed. I asked and was told that it may open again soon, but not sure when. There appears to be some sort of dispute with family members.

Make sure you go to Miramar Bar and have a cold one on the patio or play some ping pong there.

Ted

2 hours from Mexicali to San Felipe. There is some construction just north of town and south of the army checkpoint which is located at the junction with the Ensenada-San Felipe road. You'll drive offroad for a couple miles.

Other options in town are San Felipe Inn (north end of town), Motel Chapala, and Hacienda Don Jesus.

Booze, Women, Chickens, Dogs, pirated DVDs!!

We're still here in San Diego.

I don't have internet at the beach house anyway. We don't leave until the 9th, hope it warms up.
