Here ya go, Dave...

Just in time for Cinco de Mayo: kosher tequila
Production of the alcoholic beverage will be certified by a rabbi

Fri., March. 27, 2009
NEW YORK - A New York businessman is launching a new kosher tequila in time for Cinco de Mayo.

Martin Silver says Agave 99 will be on the market in time for the holiday that celebrates Mexico's defeat of French forces on May 5, 1862.

Silver, president of Long Island-based Star Industries, says he wants to satisfy the craze for high-end tequila with one that observant Jews can drink —
"to help the Mexican economy and the Jews."

Silver says a half million cases of the 99-proof kosher tequila are being produced at a Mexican plant using methods certified by a rabbi. It will retail for $41.95 a bottle.

The product launch — with Mexican songs sung in Yiddish and Spanish — is set for May 5, but it will also be sold earlier, for Passover.

Just a marketing ploy, everybody knows them Jews will drink anything, kosher or not.

The tequila is kosher but the worm must be dispatched correctly with "koshered" instruments and blessed by a rabbi.:lol::lol:

I'd rather drink the non-kosher stuff sans-worm, thank you.

I thought tequila was the, "drink of the gods."

What more could you want?

I guess that the tequila sin worm would be considered pareve, but would it go well served with haroset or gefilte fish?

Someone is going to have to test that out.

Passover's coming up. ;)

FYI, Tequila is one of the few spirits that's 'Kosher for Passover'. (Not made from fermented grains)

interesting that the importer in Long Island also sells a Cachaca that is the high end stuff he gets from Brazil. I'd love to try that some time.:wow:

i hope someone i trust like El Gato Loco tries this Tequila Agave 99 and gives us a report. That triple filtering ought to equate to smoooooth bidness.

until this economy corrects i am drinking Albertson's house brand.....

If your TEQUILA has worms, you've got more to worry about than traif. MEZCAL is the only liquor that's SUPPOSED to have a worm in it.
