Fire trees in bloom

Both my fire trees are in bloom. The one in the back yard decided to make flowers but no leaves.

Yes, that would be what is commonly called the Flame Tree or Royal Poinciana, Delonix regia. I love this time of year with these trees in bloom and Hooded Orioles and Cardinals roosting in them. Que colores! Read more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delonix_regia

We had one in Yuma but it did not tolerate a freeze and insect damage (wood boring beetles). Hated to loose it.

When I was a kid, growing up in Miami, they were all over the place. We called them royal Poinciana's. Most of the ones in the Miami area also did not have leaves when they were in full bloom, just lots and lots of great looking blooms.
