Baja FTA TV
N2 GONE. N3 Here.
From an FTA "Testing" Website:
"It was expected and it is now official! This is the end of testing under Nagravision 2 encryption. At 5pm (East Coast Time) on June 18th, 2009,
remaining N2 encrypted channels on Dish Network have changed to Nagravision 3 encryption"!
Nfusion releases Dish Network Fixes Today!!!
New files have been released today for the Nfusion line for an IKS solution. Most notably it appears that there is no initial release supporting the
Nfusion NOVA. For other users, we have been getting MIXED RESULTS from across the community of SUNS Disconnected messages when using DN. This is
probably going to continue as things are adjusted to support the massive amount of testers now trying to restore DN programming. We will report any
official word as we receive it. For now, you should consider the Nfusion release for Dish Network in BETA status !

I'm thinking FTA boxes will go the way of DTV after football cards. Four years and still no hack.
If they break Nag3 then I'll buy a box.

Geez Dave, I am sure the system will not survive unless you step up and buy your one box.

N3 Solution A Work in Progress
Having spent a little time today researching various sites, including some with "Member" access, the "Current" status IS that at least NFusion and
Sonicview (new receivers) HAVE allowed N3 hacking to a degree . The problem seems to be that the ECMs are frequent and effective, resulting in a
downtime while New files are generated by the coders for download. At this time, nobody seems to have a handle on whether an "Autoroll" solution
similar to N2 will eventually work out, BUT the fact that they've hacked it at all this early in the implementation speaks well for the future.
The receivers from both manufacturers are roughly equivalent in price to the Viewsat and other brands previously used. NFusion has two models at $149
and $179, Sonicview about the same with both also offering higher end models.
One solution at present seems to be that of Sonicview which sells an Ethernet/USB iHUB adapter ($89.00) which continually updates the receiver via a
Broadband connection, resulting in limited (or no ?) downtime. This works (to whatever extent) ONLY if you have a Broadband connection operating at
the time you're using the receiver. I have yet to read any customer reviews of said adapter.
Time will tell, but with every previous Encryption system, the providers were confident they were Bulletproof.
They were wrong.

With the nfusion SUNS (IKS) type systems, you are continually connected to the internet, which makes your computer IP address vunerable. Some
"testers" feel that this may lead to a loss of anonymity for them. Whether or not this is a Big Deal remains to be seen.
The FTA (Free To Air) users with IKS like nfusion, K-Box, Sonicview and others are Switching over to the N3 encryption now. The new codes have been
published on the internet. There are about 50 new N3 channels available as of yesterday. More on Sonicview.
Total N3 just happened yesterday also, so it was a pretty fast "break through" don't you think?
all this high tech and no spellcheck...go figure.

Understand that any receiver that requires internet to get programming is not "Breaking" N3, they are hooked to a server that sends over a "Legal"
decoding code and is sharing amongst all of the receivers. So to the receiver it appears it is getting authorized signals. This has nothing to do
with cracking N3, IT IS NOT cracked and mostly likely will not be cracked anytime soon with current systems.
PS
BIG PS
Understand that anyone who is getting programing via the internet is giving there IP address that can be tracked in the future. So don't be upset
when someone knocks on your door.

Just curious, but can the dishes be reaimed to another fta sat and pickup the networks, like nbc cbs etc.? Or would different equip be necessary?

yes you can. In fact there are even dish mounted motors available so you can program in different sat's, kind of like the old c band dishes.
there is a great web site that shows all of the sats and whos is broadcasting and if it is FTA or scrambled.

Larry,
Most of FTA is DishNetwork. That is what has been changed, the method of coding gone from Nagra2 to Nagra3.
Until there is a solution to the Nagra3 coding, FTA (except for true FTA) is on hold, and that has very little to do with which satellite.

FTA!!!
Hi All. Just to put my 2 cents in. I have been testing in Rosarito since 1994 and have been using FTA as far back as the Dreambox. Just purchased a
Casita in Mulege and plan a trip down the end of June. Now that NAGA 3 is on and a fix is close, I would like to know what is required in Mulege to
capture DN 110/119? Any one of you Guy's have any info so I can bring equipment down with me. Dish,LNB, anything else.
Thanks in advance: Jerryjust
P.S. Naga 3 is broken in Germany, & Korea.

Proof ? Shirley, You Jest !
The world of "Testing" is one of Shadows and Faith. Carefully couched wordings and disclaimers.
BUT, you're not looking at a big investment.

You will need at least a 1.8m dish (available from Guadalajara) for the 119 bird if you want decent reception. A 1.2 m dish will work, but with lots
less channels available.
The footprint for the 110 bird does not extend to the part of Baja you are coming into, I live just north of Mulege and the 110 is unattainable.

It ain't necessarily SO !
Reading on a number of sites where "testers" are exchanging codes and results, the effective hacking seems to be all over the place in Europe with
varying results country to country, Spain seeming to be a particular tough nut for them.
Only Time will tell, but IF N3 is bulletproof, WHY are they working on N4 ? Seems like a waste of time.
