Walker Evans
GRAND MARSHAL NAMED
Just picked this up off a racing update.
Walker Evans, one of the really great pioneers of Baja off-road racing!!
" California Speedway announced today that off-road racing legend Walker Evans will be the honorary grand marshal for Saturday's American Racing
Wheels 200 Craftsman Truck Series race. Evans competed in the series' inaugural year of 1995 and is widely known in racing circles for his off-road
exploits. "

Robby has the last NASCAR race of the year on Sunday...he'll be racing the first half and will be turning the car over to Walker Evans for the second
half...rarely do two drivers of that caliber ride together when racing...ususally it's a split due to the length of the race...

Stevo,
Answer your voicemail messages...need to have you deliver a surprise to Doc and need to meet you on your way south...somewhere here in the concrete
jungle...will also provide beverages for your first nights foray...
Yep, we're back from our adventure...epic to say the least.
The chubasco messed some stuff up bad on the Pacific Coast...but all-in-all its almost passable...

Honda Tom, I would guess the driver change would be at the BFG pit in San Ignacio.

I think they should use the system that was in the sand car last weekend at the SSSS.... two stearing wheels and two sets of pedals.......they remind
me of the commercials with the two guys from star trek both trying to be the spokesman for the same website....

Have first hand experience of Walker, along with being extremely aggressive, being a racing gentleman. Robby....no first hand, but... Would love to
Mr Evans take a checker....the 2k did not do him well.

If Parnelli, Mickey and Mears were the headline makers of Baja Racing, then Walker and Ivan typified the strength and the energy of the sport.
And, Walker was as tough and aggressive as they come, yet he always had time to talk to the rest of us in our home-built trucks. He was always
willing to crawl underneath and give some pointers. He never held back a suggestion as to a better route to take, after a couple of pre-runs.
Walker typifies the sport as well as anyone who ever pulled on a dusty helmet.
It was pure joy to spend time with him, on the road or in the pits.
It was real painful to watch him thrash around the ovals in the first years of NASCAR Craftman Series and it is good to see him back in the dirt.
(Got a classy kid as well, who proved you can get hurt real bad and still be a strong competitor)
Baja Arriba!!
