Bajamigo,

I need that big monster (V10 Excursion) to drag my two 8,000 + boats to Baja. You'll be the first in line when I replace it for another monster Ford truck.

We Love our Sammy for Baja! Good thing we don't have to drive it all the way down there. I think it rides smoother on the dirt than on pavement ;)

Ah yes, the old International Scout II. I had a 1973, I think it was, green one. That was a tank! I had a lot of great times in it, only selling it when I bought my first 1980 CJ 7 Jeep.

I had my Jeep for 26 years until a drunk destroyed it.

So what gives, David? You didn't list Hummer in this "other" break-down. See if I let you drive it again!

A1969 V.W. type 2 transporter.... Good tough old VW bus with cut out wheel wells and larger rear tires. Kept in storage in Cabo for 15 years. From 1980 to 1995 we flew down from Seattle to use it for winter exploring.By decreasing the airpressure down in the tires there was almost nowhere on the whole penninsula that was off limits. Lots of clearance and a comfy bed each night. Never ever broke down. Good rig. Also in those years we saw alot of the Meyers Manx's with alot of happy drivers in remote places. Good times. ++C++;D;D

Isn't Hummer a GMC Truck... sort of... The H2 is a suburban or Tahoe under from the looks of it... but the H1 is unique, for sure?

Sorry for that oversight... I did really mean to list it... The third poll that fine tunes this one will have it (to see what are the other American brands or Other others)!

For what its worth.....In the old days (1960-1975) we observed more Dodge Power Wagons and Jeeps and Willy's 4x4 trucks. Many times the Jeeps and Willys trucks were broke down. Now and again you would see a Chevy 4x4. !958-1965 vintage. In my opinion they were probably the best of the lot. And again, most of the Mexicano Ranchers drove early 70's Ford 2wd F150's. They never were stuck or broke down for very long. Getting gas coud be an issue at times. Those were truly the good old days! ++C++

I too was disappointed not to see Hummer listed specifically, or even better, H1, H2, H3. I would love to see if there are any other loonies here who drive H1s to Baja. But you are right David, the Hummer (even the H1) is a GMC truck, sorta. After I voted "Other" again in this poll I noticed that and wished I coulda changed my vote :) ++Ken++

Originally it was. Then AM General was bought/taken over by General Motors.

Well...UNIMOGS and Pinzgauers were mentioned...

Anyone know of Halflingers or NATO trucks in Baja?

All the above I believe were made in Germany. I can't vote for any since I don't own one although someone above mentioned some Pinzgauers in San Felipe...developing
