Been to all the major resort towns and never have a problem with those guys.
When approached, I tell them "not interested" and keep walking. Upon further address, I point a finger at them and ask them politely if he/she/they ave a "fricking" hearing problem and propose a free cleaning.:saint:
Works !!!

Paula,
Your method requires too much time and effort and will keep you occupied for weeks.

Then they start to gang up on you - 2 talking at once, and others shouting at you from a counter, leaflets thrust at you. It's very, very annoying to say the least, simple harassment. If there is some kind of feedback forum - in town or at the airport (tourist info counter?) - opinions should be expressed. That is no way to introduce tourists to Baja Ca. - especially Loreto - which is NOT Cabo.

I like it. Maybe wear a surgical mask too and a "cuidado, swine fool" sign hanging from around your neck.

Now if AeroMexico would bring back the SAN - LTO free beers too flight, even the timeshare gauntlet could be fun.

I GOT IT!!!

wear a surgical mask with a biohazard stamp on it and then go looing for them!!:lol::lol::lol:

OH here's another one, stagger over to them looking like you're about to throw up and ask "does anyone have a barf bag?" o "prestame una bolsa para vomitar" or if you really have to barf just act like an interested buyer and throw up on their shoes. Wow bajanomad is so informative!

Confessions of a timeshare junkie

OK, I'll admit that I am a bit addicted to timesharing. We currently own 4, having sold one earlier this year. We will probably get rid of at least another one, since we plan to build a second home in Loreto. For our family, timesharing has provided many memorable vacations to exotic places and 5 star accommodations at Motel 6 prices. The first timeshare we bought was in 1988. With all those timeshares, I have attended many timeshare presentations, but only bought three of our timeshares directly from the developer. Today, I would never buy a timeshare from the developer, as the price you pay is inflated to cover all the "freebies" that they give away. For several years I ran a program for a charitable organization accepting donations of timeshares which we would then sell to raise money. As a result I know a fair amount about the timeshare industry.

Another thing to understand is that the OPC's (off premise consultants) that are hounding people at the Loreto airport, in restaurants and in town could care less if you want to buy a timeshare or not. They are paid to bring in bodies! So, logic won't work with them. You are wasting your breath.

Every Mexican resort town with an airport has the same timeshare room between customs and the exit door. I've run the gauntlet in Cancun, Puerto Vallarta and in Cabo. So don't expect it to be different in Loreto. The only way that I have found to keep them at bay is to pretend you are deaf and continue walking. You engage in conversation with them and you make your experience even worse. My last trip to Loreto in March, I was able to fend them off in town by merely acting aloof.

The biggest issue I see with the OPC's at the airport is that often they appear to be taxi stands and unsuspecting visitors looking for a ride to town get sucked in before they realize what is happening. (This actually happened to me on my first trip to Puerto Vallarta) People who have tourist operations in Loreto should provide warnings to their arriving guests to not go with the timeshare people. I don't know if the Villa Group people are using the local taxi drivers, but if they aren't this is an even bigger problem for the taxi drivers in town who are already struggling with the downturn in tourists.

Just got back from the new terminal, no time share vermin yet. The terminal was very nice, AC going full blast is a real nice touch compared to the old one. None of the shop locations are open yet and the parking lot is still being painted. But all in all much better than the old one.

Since late April Fonatur has been setting up the infrastructure for major development south of Loreto Shores. Rumor has it that it will be an extension of the Malecon that will stretch to the Loreto Bay complex.

Seems like everyone is complicit. Recently walked into Walmart in Cabo. Up walks a guy wearing a tag saying "customer service" he asks if he can help me find what I'm looking for. I asked him which timeshare development he was working for. He answered that it was the new one on Medano, Casa Dorado. I told him he was wasting his time, as I would in no uncertain terms spend a morning listening to a sales pitch. He walked away, only to reappear twice. Just wondering if Walmart really needs the extra revenue? If I recall, one of the chains, maybe Soriana's(?) doesn't allow these guys entry. Shop with your feet if you don't wish to be hassled.

Everybody complaints about the Timeshare people, yet, somebody keeps spending all of those hundreds of millions of dollars each year in the Los Cabos area. So obviously, it works very good for them.

Want to quickly get rid of a timeshare salesman? heres the awnser you should give.

I am single, i donīt have a credit card, and i currently reside in Singapore.

What is the parking like for persons wanting to park and pick-up guests? Is there some temp parking avalible closer to the new terminal...

Yes, Ed, I can be a woman of few words. But some days in Loreto there is nothing better to do than torture the timeshare people:dudette:

The parking areas are still being painted and it was difficult to tell just what was what for parking. I did see the sign saying you will have to pay to park, but didnt notice if that was for long term only or all parking in the future.

The parking and access roads looked like they will be ready in a few days, be able to get a better idea then.

I understood that when the new Terminal opened, the General Aviation guys were moving into the old Terminal? Did that not happen?

but they already have sufficient offices at the old terminal.
the challenge is getting Migracion y aduana at the same location. BBP reports you now have to run all over between various GA support offices between the 2 terminals to get the ARR and DEP flight plans stamped by all the officios.

this is the bane of some Mexican airports handling GA. Guaymas has the best services for GA. Loreto was good until they split the offices. Mexicali is ok. Hermosillo was terrible but now combined so GA has a customs guy there even if a big bird comes in. That's the problem at many - if you're arriving same time as a commercial carrier you might wait an hour while they clear the jet pax 1st and Migracion and Aduana comes over to work you. Loreto exhibited this often even at the old terminal.
