Trolls

"Do not feed the trolls" and its abbreviation DNFTT redirect here.

For the Wikipedia essay, see "What is a troll?".

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional or disciplinary response[1] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

Lets just ignore the idiots!

we grow old because we stop playing

Forum trolls may work in multiple disguises and use multiple logins via redirected IP's to draw you in; often playing the good cop-bad cop routine to build allies and support. If you pay attention you can figure them out after awhile as they become quite predictable.

They are all very lonely and unhappy people. The best thing to do is just pity them and completely ignore them...

Is it politically correct to call them Trolls? You guys might have to have a beer with the President and another Troll to calm down political opinion.

I believe that most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.

Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.

For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.

Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?

Remember that trolls are cowards; they'll usually post just enough to get an argument going, then sit back and count the responses (Yes, that's what they do!).

As for Ron's own website, it would not seem to me to be any sort of infraction, inasmuch as there could well be valid reasons to be able to navigate one's own site incognito. The other two threads list by Nancy don't seem like they are trying to disguise anything. Maybe more of a gnome than a troll.

Here is a short clip of a Troll taunting an innocent. [Left screen] See what happens when that innocent [Right screen] prepares to rip him a new one. Trolls are such cowards!

Anybody active on Baja forums must know that NOBODY ever uses the name beachbum as a nick. I did a quick search on Nomad usernames and found several that use variations of beachbum as well. I suppose those are all me too - you almost have me convinced!!!

I guess you would say there are a plethora of 'beachbum's'?

It's all just racial profiling. Sociopaths are a race, aren't they?
