Mike,
You would really have to schedule it tight to fly in here at a different time than a commercial, with 3 incoming flights a week and all.:biggrin:

or not.....it has happened to me at Loreto before! took an estimated (their ops) hour to get a departure check out of the country...so after 30 minutes i said screw it, changed the flt plan to mulege so no need for them to check us...and we took off....bypassed Mulege and bee lined it to Nogales.
Can't do that anymore with eApeeED now involved.

it just ain't fun anymore. the spontenaity and adventure of it all are dwindling away...:(

and a bunch of times at Hermosillo, even Guaymas before they changed their system a few years ago.

Has the new airport actually opened? If so what are they doing with the old one?

Its simple, just ignore them and keep walking. Don't stop or even look at them. I find being rude works great.

Perhaps the biggest reason I dislike the time share people. It's just one of the ways in this modern world we are encouraged and conditioned to be rude.

they are using the old one as the check in counter because the computers don't work in the new one then you have to go to the new terminal to actually get on the plane. I don't know if you check your luggage at the same time or where you go through security. :?:

again I couldn't make this stuff up

Now Pam, do you really expect me to believe that you go to the original counter at the old airport, then walk in the blistering heat to the near terminal to catch your plane? You must be pulling my leg because even in my lovely Baja, they have to have it figured out better than that!

Well, after thinking about it, why should I seem so surprised, as it is Mexico and it is the land of nothing surprises me!

With the above in mind, where do you fly into the new or old?

Thanks for the update.

Well it's hard to believe but true. They opened it a few weeks ago but the computers aren't online yet until ???? The new terminal has sat for over a year looking pretty finished before it opened and you would think after all this time they could have e erything ready before opening it.

'Jim' who we met at Bahia Concepcion two weeks ago, called me after we got back to tell me he flew out of Loreto and nearly missed his plane because they made him go to the old terminal first to check in! So... yes, it is true!

Whenever I am confronted with a time share salesperson in Mexico I tell them the same story. "Now why in the world would I buy a timeshare in a place, where when I went to use that timeshare for a nice relaxing vacation, I was hawked another time share?" They usually don't have a good answer for that one!!!

Loreto Airport

The new terminal is a little confusing at the moment for sure with departure. I was told last week that it will be another month before everything is moved over. Picking up passengers at the new terminal is very nice now, especially with the A/C. Speed bumps are killer...they really work, although you'd think that you need a "lift kit" to go over them....as well as a good pair of sunshades!

The new challenge will be the parking lot. If you have a Mini Cooper...no problem. If you have a fullsize truck or SUV, the parking stalls are very small and the parking lanes are really narrow. Be careful of your vehicle's width. They are not charging to park at the moment. I do not have a cost on the parking fees once they do start charging.

It's all part of the Baja experience!

Expensive and few. This reminds me of when SJD built their terminal 3, which is really not walkable from terminal 1. Some things don't seem to change.
