I think your best bet is to keep checking Craigslist in your area.

My recent travel trailer want-ad was very successful. Several nomads u2u'd me with trailers that meet our criteria and we have some nice options to
choose from. Better quality in general than what I was finding on craigslist.
Nomads also seem like a target group that would have a cargo trailer to sell so they could make room for more toys or after they make their move to
Baja.

i bought several trailers at
Az-tek trailers on Valley in Fontana CA
they are the cheapest around and NEW!!!
your biggest problem will be the tires
get good tires
you dont really need the BEST trailer for your move
and can sell it after you're done with it
there is a HUGE market for trailers
they advertise in the local so cal recycler paper

An alternative?
May I suggest you consider a bigger trailer..even a car hauler. That way you can also use it as an extra garage or storage van when you are done
hauling your original cargo. The rear ramp makes it ideal for any purpose. We have even used it as a camper on desert trips.
I bought this 28ft carhauler in 2000 and it has served us very well over the years. It is not for sale, but if you did buy one, you would find it an
easy resell in Baja. I have had numerous offers for mine ..over what I paid. Any size cargo trailer in good condition would resell well, though, so
not to worry on that point.
Hint: If feasible, buying one in the midwest or east is much cheaper than in California, but that might be too far for you. Travel expense, etc.
My model cost me quite a bit less in ND than the same model priced out in SoCal...you would be surprised by how much!
Anyway, this is my thought only, and good luck with whatever size trailer you buy. Watch those chuckholes...I recently took out all tires on mine
just south of Santa Rosalia!

Wow Pompano, you sure that's not a cruise ship?
My husb. expressed concern about towing something the width of a car hauler (8.5' wide) up and down the hwy and and thought a 7' wide trailer might be
less effected when trucks blow by going the opposite direction. He can drive a fire engine in his sleep on streets so narrow that there's an inch of
clearance on each side mirror, but he'd go through a bottle of TUMs towing something wide on Hwy #1.
The concrete "path" over the Rio La Purisima is no longer there since Jimena which will make the trip challenging- and then there's the 15 miles of
washboard... We're trying to find a trailer small enough to keep the transport stress to a minimum but large enough to reduce the number of
peninsula trips we have to take to haul our stuff.
Very good idea about using the trailer for storage later and we will watch out for the potholes, thanks!

I would wait to haul a big trailer down until the road repairs immediately south of Ensenada are done.... that is one VERY ROUGH road.... the road
coming in from Tecate has some real bad spots as well.... once past these two problems you only need to watch for topes.....
those of you who live near or drive those sections routinely might give a status report on the construction... it is going to be a consideration for
awhile.....

I'm with Pompano. Should be at least a 24 footer. You'll regret it later on not getting the large one. Tremendous difference in interior space also.
Should hold an average household's goodies. Had a friend do it in one similar to the one Pomp showed. Took one trip to Loreto and sold it for about
the same money he paid for it. And , if you use it for storage, the small one is useless.
