Lifeguard Training in Todos Santos

Beach Safety Task Force -

We are happy to announce the beginning of the First Lifeguard Course here in Todos Santos.

The training will start at the GUM swimming pool in La Paz in November, then we will have a First Aid Course from the Red Cross here in Todos Santos and will finish in January with a training with Lifeguards from Imperial Beach California in the beaches of Pescadero and Todos Santos.

We will meet next Thursday (October 27 th) at 6 pm at La esquina for the applications and arrange Itineraries. The major challenges right now are the costs and to find enthusiastic locals that know how to swim and do not fear the Ocean, but we already have a few.

Also we are organizing two fund raiser parties to help us with the costs, one at Hotel California for Halloween and the other at Café La Esquina on November 28th. The other way you can help would be by sponsorship.

So please come to the meeting if you want to bring someone that is willing to take that course or to Sponsor a local so they can learn this important profesion.

We are hoping that early next year the restaurants or Hotels with concession on the beach and the government (ZOFEMAT) will pay a salary for those Lifeguards. -

That is great news. The lifeguards from Imperial Beach are great and are expanding their training in Baja.

Very recently they were in Abreojos again and a few of the Surf Club from Bahia Asuncion were able to attend the training for one day. As of now, there is a training program planned for Bahia Asuncion next year.

They are a great group of guys led by a very dedicated person.

Sad to say that your buddies at ballenatito would gotten more mileage from having joined this forum. That said, it does appear to be a worthwhile enterprise.

Only because it appears to me that your friends deserve all support they can get. But, alas, you, my friend, have created a cadre of enemies here. It's certainly not all your fault. But there are many folks on this forum that go absolutely crazy when anyone posts anyhting negative about Baja. Just saying that for such a good cause, maybe someone else should spread the word.
