Getting on the water
When I go to Baja I HAVE to get ON the water. I was wondering the best and easiest way. I want to carry something INSIDE my van....like a
kayak....no longer than 8 feet or so. There is a Malibu mini-x that some use to fish out of that may fit the bill. This apparently is a fishing
rig. Anyone with experience with these sit on top kayaks? Or can anyone suggest what works for them?
Thanks

Por que no on top of the van ? Seems like you'd have a lot more options. Maybe an inflatable? There are a lot of one man "pontoon" style
fishing craft out there but I'm guessing they are best suited for calm water, lakes and ponds. I used to have a Saylor inflatable canoe I used on
Lake Tahoe, it was great.

fold-a-bote maybe? am not sure of the spelling...
I have an inflatable kayak I like for just paddling around, about 26#s, but I can't imagine fishing/landing anything in it.
reality\'s never been of much use out here...

Short kayaks are really slow and don't track well. Just get a good set of racks and a 12-14' yak.

Divers' boat is a good idea if you can't put a kayak on top. With that motor it'll scoot and two people could go. Just watch your hooks! I think
those short kayaks are for expert river runners.

Getting on the water
My bubble top van has this irritating air cond. deal that prevents much hauling on top. So stuffing something inside or trailing something behind
are the options. Then I would need a SMALL trailer.....maybe a single wheel or light trailer?

Mount your racks in front and behind the AC unit with the cross bars longer on the passenger side.
Even if the boat hangs over a little.
A 13' kayak would probably be your best bet.
Trailers bring another level of potential problems.

I would go with either a small inflatable zodiac or a inflatable kayak like a Helios.
The other option would be a Folbot or Klepper folding kayak. They take a half hour to put together but very nice on the water. The double folbot
(Greenland?) is especially nice.
All of the above would fit in a van or truck.
The Helios is very small and goes in a backpack.
Now...go get on the water!
